Finding A Motorized Vehicle Salvage Yard The Straightforward Way
Garage and yard sales were not really mainstream when we held ours, but it turned out to be a good idea and one which is common place today. The only problem is that some people think they can do better selling stuff online. In some cases they may be right, but those are the exceptions to the rule. In this economy selling your clutter online makes less sense than selling it in your yard, garage, house or apartment. Not only are there those fees that the online services demand, but there is the nightmare of the dissatisfied customer.

Let us start with ease of obtaining. Obviously newer car parts will be easier to get than older ones. A friend of mine still has a 1975 Pontiac Lemans. To obtain parts for this car he has to literally go to junk yards and even online. No new car dealers keep parts beyond 10 years or so and even auto parts stores limit their inventory to cars under 20 years. A 30 year old vehicle is almost impossible to find parts for. Plus, if you can find the part, depending on where you get it, the cost could be anywhere from 20 to 100% over the original part cost. To say that late model car owners are taken advantage of would be a gross understatement.



Make a deal. Whether sold to a private party or to a lkq salvage parts , you'll want to strike a deal. Come up with junkyard parts that satisfies both parties and complete the transaction. Likely, you'll have to sign a lien release and you'll also have to sign over the title. Remove the license plates, registration, insurance information and your personal effects. Accept a check or cash for your car.

Less than two hours after we started hauling things out to the yard, just about everything was gone and my folks had a pile of cash to show for our efforts. We were all a bit shocked and very happy. I got a share of the money and stuffed it into my pocket so I could buy goodies on the way to our new place. It turned out that some of the stuff my grandparents brought to us really was 'good junk' and worth something. They were happy to see that the trash heap treasures they hauled to our home over the years brought in all that cash and were bought by people that appreciated them.

The first thing that you will probably want to do when you get ready to go looking for your auto part, is to call the junk yard and find out what their hours are, as well as what auto parts they may have in the junk yard for you. This is a quick and easy process that only requires a minute of your time.

This is true for both new and used parts, but I would highly recommend only buying used auto parts online if it is your only recourse. Used parts can be very difficult to determine quality even with the product in hand, much less through someone's web page who is trying to sell it to you.

If they confirm the vehicle has been in an accident you don't have to rule it out altogether. It might still be worth buying and you won't know until you finish your inspection.
