I believe that freedom is more important than safety. In our lives, we think that safety is more important, because we see so much danger in the world. We can do most everything through the internet and this makes it so we don't need to go shopping or be active really. But should we just hide away so we are never in a dangerous situation? That would be SUPER boring! I would rather die while doing something important to me or the future than just lock myself away! An example from Fahrenheit 451 is that they think that hiding away is what is going to keep them safe. That is why it was so important that Clarrise met Guy to show him that they can think for themselves and don't have to let the "family" and Government do all the thinking. Now Guy has started to read, which means he has started to get his freedom and isn't locking himself away because he is scared of the world. Even though being safe will keep us protected and sheltered, its like being put in a jail. We lose our freedom whether we want to or not. Even though some choose to use this freedom by abusing it and eventually winding up in jail, we need to make sure we are using it correctly so it doesn’t get taken away. I would not like to live in a place like in Fahrenheit 451, because every single move you make has to be from the book and approved by authorities. Sure, they are safe and protected, but they have to pay a large price to get that safety and loose their books. If my safety costed something that I cared about, or a prized possession like a book, I would not want to give them up. I would rather have my freedom.
