15 Reasons Not To Overlook Cheap Single Pushchair
Cheap Single Pushchairs

If you're on a budget and don't require a stroller that doubles as a car seat carrier, the Babyzen Yoyo is a good choice. It has a flip-flop friendly one-step footbrake.

It's also a breeze to push and feels solid when navigating kerbs or woodland paths. It's also a breeze to fold.

1. Babyzen YOYO2

The Babyzen YOYO2 has earned itself a reputation as the ultimate lightweight buggy for jet-setters and city dwellers alike, thanks to its extremely nimble handling and fold that fits in the overhead luggage of an aeroplane. The most recent version features independent suspension on all four wheels that is made from Hytrel Elastomer, which allows it to effortlessly navigate across all types of surfaces and terrain'.

The curved fabric bassinet, base YOYO2 frame and 6months of colour pack come together to create a sleek pushchair that has a soft elegant look. The base frame alone weighs just under a kilo and is so light that you can lift it directly from the box (and do it with one hand).

The hood, for instance is able to snap onto the YOYO2 in a reassuring way. It's also machine washable at 30 degrees, which helps to prevent stains caused by smushed carrot puffs and rice cakes. It can be used as a pram from birth using the Newborn Pack or bassinet, or converted to a stroller after 6 months by clicking on the YOYO Connect additional chassis.

2. Evenflo Pivot Xplore

The Evenflo Pivot Xplore is a great choice for parents who want a stroller that can be used in a variety of ways. It transforms from a stroller into a wagon by simply flipping the handle, so parents can choose which mode they prefer on their journey. The wagon can be used by one or two children from 6 months old to 5 years, and it comes with a spacious storage basket for everything you require on the go.

The Xplore has two canopies that rotate from front-to-back, providing adequate sun protection for all family members. It also has a footwell that's not as large or deep as other wagons, so it may not be suitable for long trips or napping.

The frame of the Xplore feels sturdy and solid, although it does not have the same flexibility as other wagons we tested. It is also more difficult to fold than some of the competition, and it does not lock tightly when folded. It is easy to move, though, and it is able to fit through narrow 28 inches doors.

3. Delta Children LX Side-by-Side

This Delta Children bare-bones travel stroller is a great choice for parents who are seeking a second stroller that's priced reasonably. It was awarded an impressive score in our Strollers & Multiples test for weight and fold size that means it's lightweight, small when collapsed and easy to put into a trunk of a car or closet. It also comes with an adjustable recline seat that can be adjusted in multiple positions and an integrated cup holder for the parent. Other key features include 360-degree shock-absorbing front wheels, as well as two large storage bags that hang from the ceiling.

It performed better in our push and turn test than a lot of the other strollers we tested but is nonetheless difficult to maneuver on uneven ground or through narrow doors. The sunshades are among the smallest we tested, offering only direct overhead coverage and no windows that peek out. The UPPAbaby G-Link 2 and Zoe Twin+ have significantly larger canopies.

It took us just under 3 minutes to put together the Delta with a standard manual. None of the parts required tools. It's missing certain features we consider essential for double strollers. These include an extra-large basket, reclining seats, and leg rests that can be adjusted.

4. Maxi-Cosi Zelia 2-in-1

The Zelia is Maxi-Cosi's newest pushchair that is advertised as a travel system for urban use. It is designed to accommodate infants from birth until approximately 3.5 years old, and can be converted between a seat and a carrycot in just a few clicks. It can also be used with Maxi Cosi capsule car seats, and comes with the lightweight Mico 30 infant car seat, a stay-incar base, and a reversible car.

It's a breeze to maneuver, and the one-hand reclining of the seat as well as the massive shopping basket make it easy for parents to get their child out and in quickly. Despite being a narrow pushchair it handled the everyday bumps well and was able to pass through doorways without a hitch.

The front wheels are able to be locked in a forward direction or pivot. This is helpful when navigating rough terrain. When we walked on the stony path, we let them swivel and it did this quite well although it did seem more bumpy than the other models that we tested.

5. Baby Jogger City Tour 2

Baby Jogger is most well-known for its 3-wheeled all-terrain, jogging strollers. But they also make a broad variety of pushchairs that have four wheels. City Tour 2 is their most well-known model. It is easy to use and folds down small enough to fit into the car boot, even with the carrycot attached.

It's heavier than other strollers we test, but since it has rubber composite wheels, it feels sturdy and well-constructed. It is easy to maneuver over various terrains and even with two children as well as a shopping bag and other items.

Full Record and seat have hoods that are able to be lower to reveal the UV50+ sun canopy extensions. They are sturdy and waterproof, unlike other hoods for prams that can be blown back into toddlers' faces.

It's not a lot of storage space, but it does have an ample basket that is deep enough to hold a changing bag or plenty of food. You can also pair it with a Baby Jogger car seat that is suitable for babies who weigh 20 pounds or less (car seat and adapters are sold separately). If you are looking for a stroller that can be taken on the road, the City Tour 2 is an ideal choice.

6. Nuna Mixx Next

When the Nuna Mixx first rolled onto the scene, it stole the hearts of parents everywhere. It's an aluminum-framed stroller which can be used from the baby's first days to beyond. It's got a lot of standout features, including the ability of the seat to flip between the front facing parent and the outside and a huge UPF50+ canopy, an eye-shade that flips out, as well as an adjustable handlebar.

The wheels are strong and foam-filled which minimises punctures and the chassis has built-in suspension that eases the pain of rough terrain. It was easy to push and our test driver was able manoeuvre the vehicle through the narrow streets.

It locks automatically and folds in just four steps. It can also stand and be trolleyed for easier transport in the boot of your car or down the stairs at home. It also comes travel system ready with the option to add a car seat and a carrycot with the adaptors included. The brakes come with only one action and are color coded. They also can be used with flip-flops.

7. Babyzen Duet

This budget single pushchair is extremely easy to use and has an excellent dual suspension system, one-hand fold and a practical carry strap. It's also extremely light and robust. The seat can be reclined to many different positions. It also comes with a double breathable mattress that is suitable for infants.

The canopy/seat has two extra-large fixed or flip out sun visors. Both are UPF50+. The toggle closure isn't the best as it’s not as quiet as Velcro and could wake up napping babies.

The Duet is a stroller that can be used side-by-side and can be adapted to accommodate twins or siblings (up to 22kg maximum per seat). It is compatible with two infant car seats and works with some carrycots. In twin-mode, the seats can be positioned to face each other or can rotate around to face their parents, potentially cutting down on sibling disputes over who gets to sit with dad and mom. It comes with a big gear tray with a bottle holder as well as snack tray. It also comes with a folding stand that folds down and a frame lock.

8. Baby Jogger Urban Glide 2.

The Thule Urban Glide 2 is a jogger for parents who want to keep active. It's among the lightest strollers you can purchase for your child. It comes with excellent safety features such as a 5-point harness as well as a safety wrist strap. It has a different type of hand brake that is different from other models, which is an interesting twist.

The seat is padded and provides plenty of space to sit. However, the seat depth is less than that of other runners (it's only about 10") The storage bin is encased with a zipper to keep things safe. It can hold up to 10lbs that is enough for the majority of diaper bags.

The Urban Glide 2 isn't compatible with bassinets for infants or car seats as of yet, but you can use it from day one by purchasing adapters for most seats by brands like BOB, Graco, Combi, Evenflo, Britax, and UPPAbaby. It folds up compactly and takes 5-10 minutes to assemble with no tools. The manual is easy to understand and includes multiple languages.
