Choosing a Stroller That's Right For You
A stroller is usually a folded four-wheeled vehicle which small children can be pushed in. It is a wonderful way to take a leisurely walk or run outside.
Kidsland offers a wide range of single and dual strollers. The Peg Perego PrimoViaggio 3-in-1 Car Seat/Stroller is one of our top selling models.
How to Select a Stroller
Strollers are the best baby companions. They allow parents to easily take their kids around the city and take them to the great outdoors, or navigate the crowded malls. But choosing the right stroller for your child and your family's needs is vital to ensure a comfortable ride. To choose a stroller that's right for you, first consider where you'll be using it and how often. Do you want it to go on rough terrain or fit into a compact car trunk, or navigate narrow doorways? Also, think about whether you'll want to take it on walks through the city or out in the woods. Once you've decided on the stroller type and features you want, it's time to test drive a few models.
Start with a few laps around the parking area to get familiar with the way it handles and moves. If you plan to use it for jogging, check the durability of the wheels and how they perform on uneven and bumpy pavements. Choose if you'd like a basket to store your essentials or a recliner chair for babies. Make sure the handlebars are able to fit your stride comfortably and that there is enough room for the child of your height in the seat.
If you are planning to have more children in the future you might think about a single stroller that could be transformed into a double stroller, or a stroller board for toddlers. Babylist parents tell us one of their biggest regrets with strollers is not purchasing an convertible model when they had the opportunity.
If you're planning to use your stroller during rainy or other bad weather, make sure that accessories such as rain covers and sun umbrellas can be put on quickly and easily. Don't forget to think about safety. Make sure you have a five point harness system that is easy to buckle and unbuckle and secure seating and strong brakes. Check the hinges for sharp edges or areas where a finger could be caught. Make sure that the stroller is compliant with the safety standards of the state and local level. Last but not least try it out with your child to make sure you both are at ease.
Strollers for One child
If you have one child, a single stroller might be all you need. These strollers tend to be smaller than the larger ones and have the same safety features. They also come with a large canopy that protects your child from the elements of sun and wind. They're also generally more mobile and have fewer components that can break.
If your baby is small and is still in a car seat that is for infants, an all-in-one stroller with a built-in infant carrier might be the perfect choice for you. These strollers have sturdy frames that can hold several seats or even a second baby car seat. They're typically more convenient to use than convertible or double strollers and might cost less upfront, too.
A stroller that is all-in-one can be a good choice for older children. These strollers usually have a big, spacious basket that can hold your child's things and can fit the majority of diaper bags. They're also easy to steer and narrow enough to pass through a bathroom stall. They can be folded up and stored in a car's back seat or closet for quick transport.
If you're looking for a stroller which will grow with your family, consider a convertible model. These strollers have an aluminum frame that can accommodate up to two toddler seats or even a baby bassinet. (Adapters and carriers are sold separately). These strollers are usually more expensive than single-seaters but they're a great option when you're looking to travel light with your children and have flexibility in seating. The UPPAbaby Vista v2 is our top recommendation for a premium convertible stroller that comes with premium features and can hold up to three kids with ease (age-dependent).
Strollers for Two Children
If you have two small children it is essential to help you transport both of them at the same time. There are many different alternatives, such as tandems, side-by-side strollers and wagons. Many of the double strollers we tested have the capacity to accommodate an additional child seat or even a third one if you add a piggyback ride-along boards (sold separately). Tandem strollers have more configurations for different age groups and stages than side-by-side models however, they are often larger in size and heavier in weight.
Parents of twins will want a double stroller with the same seating arrangement as their children. They'll likely need one that can accommodate two infant car seats at once which is something only a few of our top-rated double strollers have. A tandem stroller is the best for twins that are similar in age or ability. However, the seating style also is dependent on how far the twins are in their ages and what features they prefer.
In our tests, all tandem strollers that we tested were easy to maneuver and had a big turning radius. They did not turn as smoothly in tight spaces as a single stroller and can be a challenge to navigate curbs. The majority of side-by-side strollers that we tested could fit through standard doors. However, they might have a shorter aisle than a single stroller.
Some of the side-by-sides that we tested included an additional seat for toddlers however you couldn't switch them out and in. This could be beneficial in the event that your children are of different age groups. The UPPAbaby V2 Double is an exception to this rule. It allows you to effortlessly switch between double and single mode by converting its frame.
Side-by-side strollers are by far the most popular model in our double stroller category and we've tested some of the top options available on the market. Most come with plenty of storage space and allow you to keep both children in your sight. Some come with parent consoles that aid in keeping track of your child's wants and requirements. Some are priced at the same cost as our top single strollers, but others are more expensive.
Strollers for three children
You'll need to locate a stroller that can accommodate all your children when you have three (or two older twins and one singleton). It's a significant purchase, so shop around to find a model that suits your family size, lifestyle and budget.
Try the Graco Ready2GrowLX triple stroller if you're looking for a stroller that will grow with your children. It comes with a front-facing seat that can accommodate infant car seats or bassinets as well as a rear bench seat that can be converted to a toddler seat for children over 6 months of age. The seat can be used to stand up for children in preschool. It also includes a tray for parents with cup holders and storage compartments.
The Joovy Big Caboose is another fantastic triple stroller. It comes with two car seat-compatible, forward-facing, reclining seats that fit kids up to 32 inches tall. You can then add the rear seat accessory to transform it into a triple tandem stroller, with a third standard seat for your child's oldest. This model is ideal for twins and siblings who are similar in age. The older child will sit on the front seat, while the younger one will be in the rear.
Many parents opt for quad strollers that is basically double stroller that has an additional seat in the back. These models are not as easy to maneuver, but they offer more seating options compared to the standard double. The Foundations Trio Sport 4 Passenger Stroller is a good option. Push Chairs And Prams is relatively inexpensive and has received excellent reviews from parents.
Strollers are essential for transporting your children and providing them with a a comfortable, safe place to relax on the go. However, when it's time to buy a brand new stroller, be aware of the differences between single and double strollers to find the right model for your family. No matter which model you choose it's important to look for a stroller that meets US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) standards and comes with an ergonomic handlebar that makes it comfortable to push and steer for long durations of time.
