Its History Of Three Wheeled Buggies
Three Wheeled Buggies

Three-wheeled buggies are great for walking around the neighborhood or for jogging. Their compact design makes them easy to maneuver even in tight spots.

If you want a smooth ride with your pram, choose models with 360deg front wheels with swivel. However, they are prone to punctures, so be prepared with an repair kit.

Frame made of sturdy material

New figures show that three-wheeled buggies that were the symbol of the noughties that had more money than common sense, are in steep decline. Four-wheelers are replacing them, and are more versatile and easier to drive and look stylish.

The bigger the wheels are the better your buggy will cope with bumpy surfaces and uneven pavements. The larger wheels on both the front and back makes it much easier to manoeuvre and more stable when walking downhill or on difficult terrain.

MFM reviewer Kath tried the buggy out with a newborn baby and a toddler and found it to be extremely durable. It was able to handle cobbles, grass, and rough pavements, aswell as dirt tracks and kerbs. Kath said it felt solid to push and very stable on difficult terrain. Its tyres (which are inflatable so need occasional pumping) come with suspension built-in that was very comfortable for my children.

Another thing to take into consideration is the seat size and shape. It should be big enough for your child's comfort and you will also need it to recline so that they can lie flat. Some three-wheel buggies offer the option of lying flat, which allows the child to face you, while others only allow a face-to-parent one.

A great option for those who want to tackle off-road and muddy trails is the Roma Atlas. This buggy is ideal for a single child as early as birth and can be adjusted to accommodate two children as your family grows. It is suitable for infants and toddlers from birth until age 4. It includes a bumper and raincover, a new 5-point harness, and a huge cushioned seat. The storage options are good too, with a decent-sized basket, zip pockets inside the hood, and an easy-to-access pouch on the rear of the seat unit.

Larger wheels

Larger wheels will give your buggy more stability when driving on rough terrain. This is perfect for off-road buggies. They also help you maneuver the pushchair in tight spaces. Some three-wheeled buggies come with rotating wheels at the front to help you navigate tight corners. Others are designed to run and have fixed wheels that lock to provide increased speed and stability. This is especially useful when you hit a tree or a kerb. The front wheel will be lifted slightly to prevent hitting it.

A majority of 3 wheel pushchairs come with air filled tyres which means they are able to handle a variety of terrains and are more flexible than 4-wheeler. They also tend to be lighter. However, they're susceptible to punctures so you'll need a repair kit, spare inner tube and pump in your bag.

Mountain Buggy Core, Venicci Carbo and Venicci Carbo Lux are among our top 3-wheelers. 3 wheeler pushchairs from birth www.pushchairsandprams.uk , as per MFM's Kath, have larger wheels which, she says "perform well on gravel roads, grass and market town cobbles" and are able to move up and down kerbs. They also have a suspension system which, in her words "smoothes out bumps with great efficiency".

The downside of having larger wheels is that they can make some buggies quite broad and can struggle to fit through narrow spaces. This could be an issue if you plan to are using it as a jogger, or need to fit through narrow doorways while on the move. Most models come with small folding options that permit you to take off the front wheels and store them in a more compact manner.

Easy to manoeuvre

A three-wheel buggy can be more maneuverable for a child. The way in which they are built ensures that the front wheels turn at a quick pace and are extremely maneuverable, making them ideal for difficult terrains such as parks, cobbles, bumpy pavements and dirt tracks.

MFM reviewer Kath tried the 3-wheeler with her toddler, and she reported: "The Terrain is a pleasure to drive on rough terrain. The swivel wheel front was particularly helpful." I was also awed by how well it coped with kerbs, especially when using the brake operated by hand. It was very stable for descending or on uneven terrain."

The only drawback of this great maneuverability is that the 3 wheel buggy's larger wheels sometimes mean that it will struggle in tight spaces, something to keep in mind if you live in a urban region. If this is a problem, a 4-wheel buggy might be better for you.

Bumper bar

Bumper bars can shield your child from bumps and scrapes while out and about. They are easy and quick to put up and help your child feel safe and secure while out on the town or taking on tough terrain.

Created to match the sleek lines of your Slim Twin stroller, this bumper bar features a soft and cushioned surface that provides a comfortable place for your child to hang onto while walking. The sturdy construction and durable design will ensure that your child will be comfortable strolling through the city without having to worry about falling or leaning forward.

The fabric sling sits snugly within the frame and not on top of the seat that is modular. This provides a lower centre of gravity for your baby at the ideal height, and also delivers an excellent weight distribution, making it easier to pop over curbs (it is much easier to push a stroller up and down than you think). MFM reviewer Kath discovered that it was able to cope well with grass and cobbles and is a great option for jogging thanks to its lockable swivel front wheel that can be locked and air-filled tyres.

With a stylish and sophisticated look, this bumper bar will surely attract attention wherever you go. It's available in a variety of finishes and colours to suit your personal style. The bumper bar is easily removed and installed using the quick-release mechanism. Additionally, the bumper bar is easy to clean and is made of durable materials that are simple to clean. This makes it a great option for families that want a safe and stylish accessory for their stroller.

Comfort

A 3-wheel buggie offers the most maneuverability and performance when you go off road. With the perfect design, engineering and weight distribution this style of buggy can turn on a dime and be easy to steer with one hand. All Mountain Buggies meet the same rigorous stability standards and tests as buggies with 4 wheels.

The sport's clever design puts the fabric sling seat within the frame, instead of on top like modular seats. This means it has lower center of gravity, which means it is more comfortable to push, has a lighter curb-pop (you won't need to put in much effort to push the buggy's front end over a curb) and also provides greater stability and balance. And with the huge rear wheels measuring 16 inches, lockable swivel front wheel and tyres with air that require only occasional pumping, you get an unhurried ride on rough terrain, and a smoother more comfortable jog.

As the only pushchair that is all-terrain in our collection with a parent facing seat that can also accommodate the form of a car seat or carrycot and a car seat, you can ensure the future of your family and enjoy every moment of your day and for years to come and all within the footprint of a single buggy!

It's not the only reason to love this buggy - our MFM reviewer Kath was impressed by how spacious it is too. There's an easily accessible large basket that's quite spacious for a buggy of this size. There's also a handy pouch on the back seat unit, and 2 smaller mesh pockets underneath the hood, where you can keep your phone and keys.
