Following a string of social media posts that hint at it, Italian supercar-maker Lamborghini has finally revealed its first NFT (non-fungible token) project. Space Key is being developed in collaboration with a non-publicized artist and based upon advanced carbon fiber composite materials that were shipped to the International Space Station as research material, is a new project which was announced by Lamborghini.
Developed in collaboration with NFT PRO(tm)
Italian supercar maker Lamborghini is diving its toes into the world of non-fungible tokens (NFTs). The latest project - dubbed the Space Key - is a work of art that was made by a collaboration with an unidentified artist. The unique NFT is a physical object which connects to a unique digital artwork that can be accessed via an QR code on the back. The project is limited and will be auctioned off over the next few weeks.
The Space Key is made of a carbon composite material that Lamborghini, as part of a research project in the year 2019 and sent to the International Space Station. The carbon fiber was transformed into a unique art work after it returned to Earth. The physical piece includes an NFT serial code that connects to the digital art work via a QR code on the back.
NFTs for those who aren't familiar, are unique identifiers that are stored on a distributed ledger of the blockchain and linked to a digital asset such as a photograph or video, song, or other recording. This allows owners to verify the authenticity, scarcity and trackability of their tokens over the internet.
Lamborghini is taking this unique approach to art to a new level by working with NFT PRO - an all-white label NFT solution for businesses. In the coming weeks, Lamborghini will release details about this exciting project. This includes the name of the artists who are unknown as well as a timeline for auction.
The physical aspect of the Space Key. key lamborghini
After a series of social media posts teasing some kind of space-themed item, Italian supercar maker Lamborghini has stepped into the realm of non-fungible tokens (NFT) with an exclusive project dubbed Space Key. Created in collaboration with an unidentified artist the NFT is a sought-after item that will be auctioned off in a few weeks. The NFT is a piece that's made of the latest carbon fiber composite material that was delivered to the International Space Station (ISS) in 2019 as part an experiment. The carbon fiber has been 3D printed to create the base of each Space Key, which is linked with an exclusive, purely digital artwork through the QR code that is on the back of the key. Just five Space Keys have been produced.
NFTs are unique identification numbers that can be recorded on distributed ledgers like the Blockchain and tied to digital assets such as pictures. They're popular among those who have more money than sense and it was only a matter time before an automaker decided to capitalize on the trend.
Space Key consists of five units and was built by using a piece of the carbon fiber composite which was delivered to the ISS in the year 2019. Each NFT will have an QR code that connects it to a special digital art work by the same artist. More details will be shared in the coming days and weeks, including the artist's name along with the digital artwork and the method of purchasing one of the five Space Keys.
The digital artwork
After several weeks of posts on social media that hint at it, a prestigious car manufacturer Lamborghini has finally announced its first non-fungible token (NFT) project. The Space Key is a collection of five physical objects that unlocks an exclusive digital artwork by the yet to be identified artist. The collectors' piece was created in collaboration with NFTPRO(tm) and is limited to only five units. It will be auctioned off soon.
Each Space Key contains a block composed of a carbon-fire composite material, which was sent to the International Space Station as part of a research project in 2019. After returning to Earth, it was stamped with an QR code that connects it to the digital element of the Space Key.
Each of the five Space Keys will feature a distinct moment that happens seconds apart as the Lamborghini Ultimae lifts off toward the stars. Each of five images was shot by photographer Fabian Oefner and contains over 600 million pixels.
Oefner used a balloon with a camera that captured each of the individual images, which were then combined into the final image. The result is an out-of-this world image that captures the beauty of Earth and the futuristic, hyper-realistic picture of the car rising from it. The Space Keys are going to be auctioned off soon, but there is no specific date or place yet.
The auction
Lamborghini, the luxury automaker has entered the world of non-fungible tokens (NFTs) with the slogan "to the moon". The project was created in collaboration with NFTPRO(tm). The Space Key is essentially an NFT that is made up of carbon fiber composite material, which was sent to the International Space Station in 2019 to conduct research. The physical sample has been reshaped into five unique objects that connect to exclusive and digital artworks created by an unknown artist using the QR code printed on their backs.
The auctions, which occur between February 1 through February 4, last for 75 hours and 50 minutes - the same time it took for Apollo 11 to leave Earth and enter lunar orbit. The five NFTs are available for bidding by registering online. Each NFT will be sold separately and the winner will get an original digital art work by the renowned photographer Fabian Oefner that captures five different moments that the Space Key experienced during its flight through space.
In the next few weeks, we'll unveil all the details about the Space Key as well as the digital artworks that come with it. This includes the identity of the elusive creator and the best way to purchase these incredible creations. Follow Lamborghini on Instagram for all the information you need!
