Cats need to eat good quality food to help keep them healthy. The thing is that so many different forms of wet and dry cat foods in the marketplace are expensive. Here are a few ways that it is possible to feed your cat without resorting to feeding them processed foods or table scraps.
Clip your cats nails regularly. Cats do need to scratch. However, when cats scratch, their nail sheaths come off and their sharp, pointy claws are exposed. Clipping your cat's claws every 2-3 weeks keeps them blunt and helps maintain harm to furniture, humans, and other pets to a minimum.

Ensure that your cat is properly hydrated. Like humans, cats need to drink lots of water. If they don't get enough water, they are able to get dehydrated, develop various health issues, or die. Make certain they always have a plate of fresh and clean water. The bowl itself also needs to be cleaned and refilled each day. It's also advisable to keep this bowl in one location.
If your cat kicks litter all over the floor, simply use a bigger container. A large, roomy tote with high sides makes a good litter box. A large round tub also makes a good kitty litter box. A restaurant size bus tub is a capacious kitty litter box. Providing higher sides and much more space will solve your cat's litter kicking problem.
Never let a cat become bored. Cats have to play and get regular exercise. The unfortunate thing is that many owners of cats don't realize this. Bored cats can become depressed and inactive, causing injury to their well-being. Provide them with space to exercise and a lot of toys to play with. If they are an indoor cat, have them an object to climb on or a scratching post.
Cats love to much on grass and plants such as catnip. There are plants however which are poisonous to cats. Chrysanthemums and holly are beautiful and common around the Holidays, but can be quite toxic to cats. Other plants which are toxic or lethal include lilies, rhubarb and daffodils.
If your cat takes all of the ornaments off the Christmas tree, don't fight it. Begin collecting attractive cat toys and unbreakable ornaments to decorate the tree next year. Be sure never to decorate with potentially dangerous stuff like tinsel and garlands. Tinsel is a choking hazard for cats and garlands can cause strangulation.
Keep the litter box clean. Cats are naturally very clean animals, and a dirty kitty litter box will have your cat searching for alternative places to relieve himself. Cats also value their privacy, so try to locate the box in an area that does not get a lot of foot traffic.
Wash your cat's bed at least once a week to remove all the bacteria from it. Even though the bed looks like it is clean, it will usually have toxins in it that may cause your pet to become sick. Replace the bed every six months to help keep your cat in a sanitary environment.
Do not flush clumpable litter in your toilet. This can lead to issues with your plumbing. Instead just lift the clumps and dispose of them in a trash bag. Don't forget, moisture is what makes the litter clump to begin with! Avoid doing that to your pipes and just dispose of it properly.
Cats love heights. Allow them the space they need to feel safe while checking their world out. If you're averse to cat trees for reasons uknown, a shelf without breakable items will continue to work. Adding a little pillow or blanket to the spot for napping will be quite definitely appreciated too.
If your cat experiences major problems, don't be afraid to speak to other cat owners. You'll be able to work out the issue yourself, but help from others can be invaluable. The Internet has many cat forums where one can ask your questions, or just speak with your vet.
Have patience with your cat. Remember that your cat is not your dog, and could not be as easily trainable as you. However, in case you are being clear in your commands and gently encouraging them, you'll find that your cat responds the way you want him to. Just be patient.
If your cat has recently given birth, be sure she's a safe, private area to deal with them. Mother cats may become frightened by strangers or loud noise, sometimes leading to decreased milk production. They may also hide the kittens in places where you cannot find them, such as closets, or under beds.
You get from your cat what you placed into it. If you give your cat the best, you get the best behavior, and the best level of health from your cat. Cat food can be expensive, but you need not let this discourage you. Use these tips and feed your cat for less.
