the first topic in the chapter is about paralysing privacy and how is big data related to our privacy and what is the relation between those two.
As you know Big data is a huge amount of data generated every day that includes structured and unstructured data.
This big data is characterized by 3 things: Volume, velocity and variety.
0n the other hand, privacy refers to the right of every personal to safe guard and control their personal information
The Overarching Threats:
In todays internet world, collecting large amounts of users personal data is happening, even though we are not aware of who is collecting our data. This is a danger to our privacy.
This is not just a theoritical issue or thing, there are some real time consequences too
lets see one of the real world examples of this issue:
The Facebook and Cambridge Analytica scandal: this scandal was responsible for unauthorized access of personal data from millions of Facebook users.
This facebook data is then used by cambrigge analatica political firm to advertise their political content for the elections.
it is important to understand that different different sectors will face differnt challenges with the privacy.
Health care: now a days all the medical records are being digitalized and this makes senstive information of patients at risk.
FInancial institutions: since many institutions take data to provide you monthly reports, spenfing by catagory, it is important for them to keep the financial information secure
similarly, tech companies should also alert and educate users about missue of data
Now that we know how big data and privacy are connected, lets see how we can control the data from missusing.
There are rules and regulations for every website and application for securing users data but they were not able to handle the challenges we are facing.
So we need some laws that can handle current challenges, but also the future cjallenges that we might have
