Corona has partnered with Oceanic Global, an international nonprofit leader in ocean conservation, to spearhead beach cleanups at some of America’s most polluted beaches. The company also hosts community cleanups in select cities and locations across the country, and is removing plastic from its business – including packaging, merchandise and more – replacing it with ocean-friendly alternatives and collaborating with eco-conscious vendors.
In a move to encourage more consumers to join the initiative, the brand introduced a new “Coronitasavethebeach” wallpaper on its website in which users can personalize their desktop with their own favorite beach background. Additionally, the brand is donating funds to support the work of Oceanic Global and its volunteers who will continue to identify, clean up and preserve beaches that need help.
Coronitasavethebeach has been supported by a number of other partners, including the European Union’s Blue Flag programme, which recognizes beaches that meet high environmental standards. The program is also backed by the Foundation for Environmental Education, and Coronita has been promoting beach cleanups through online sales of a special edition of reusable bags that were designed by Custo Barcelona.
This year, the brand tapped into its extensive social media following by encouraging beach-goers to submit photos or videos of their local beaches that need some TLC. The brand then selected the ten most-voted beaches to receive a visit from Coronita’s team of cleaning experts, who will take care of them with a day of manual labor.
Entries can be submitted through the contest gallery here. Submissions are accepted until November 8, and winners will be announced in mid-November. All winning artwork will be displayed in the Corona Save the Beach deviant art gallery with a link to the winner’s deviant account and profile.
