What Are Coffee Beans?
Coffee beans are the seeds of a similar to a cherry fruit or plant. They grow best in climates and at altitudes comparable to where they are cultivated and require certain levels of moisture, soil composition and other factors to bring them to fruition.
In addition to their flavor, they offer a variety of health benefits. Coffee contains the amino acid trigonelline, which upon roasting turns to nicotinic acid (a water-soluble B vitamin). It is also rich in phenolic acids, including chlorogenic acids that help reduce blood sugar.
Origin
Everyone knows what a roasted coffee bean looks like but not many know that it starts out as the fruit of a berry. A coffee bean is a seed produced by a specific species of Coffea plant. Most of the time the berries split, and each contains two beans. However, in approximately 5 percent of beans harvested, only one bean splits. This kind of coffee bean is referred to as a peaberry and it is typically separated manually and sold as a separate item.
The majority of all coffee is produced in what is referred to as the "Bean Belt" - a region of the globe that is situated in the Tropics of Capricorn and Cancer. Coffee is produced in numerous countries using different methods. Each method has its own distinct flavor profile and characteristics.
The exact history of coffee is a subject of dispute but it is widely believed that the earliest coffee plants were indigenous to Abyssinia which is now Ethiopia. The most well-known tale is about a goatherd called Kaldi who observed his goats excited and bleating from eating bright red berries that were growing on nearby trees. Kaldi tried the berries and felt an exhilaration feeling for himself. Then, he introduced the drink to other people within his circle and it gained popularity. It gained popularity throughout the Islamic world in the 15th and 16th centuries in spite of Islamic authorities declaring it to be intoxicating which was forbidden by the Qur an.
Flavor

The kind of syrup used to flavor coffee beans may affect the taste. Flavored coffee is typically prepared by spraying the beans with oil-based flavoring agents after the roasting process and then letting them sit for 30 minutes in order for them to absorb the oils. The beans that have been flavored are then sorted and graded.
Addition of flavor to coffee beans lets you alter the taste of your coffee without altering the texture or color. The flavor of coffee with flavored flavors is often more intense than regular unflavored coffee. This is because the coffee beans with flavor are soaked with flavoring syrup.
The taste of coffee is also affected by the spices that are added to it as it is stored. Mixing whole spices like vanilla, cinnamon sticks, and cocoa bean with freshly roasting beans can give them a unique flavor. This is especially efficient if the beans are kept in an airtight container.
