Will Coffee Beans One Day Rule The World?
The Best Fresh Coffee Beans

If you're looking to have the best coffee, purchase whole beans at a local roaster or coffee shop. A retailer who offers a variety of blends would be a good choice.

Koffee Kult's Thunder Bolt is a dark French roast that has a distinctly satisfying flavor. It is a bit more expensive, but it's organic1, fair-trade2 and contains no additives.

Ethiopian Yirgacheffe

Ethiopian Yirgacheffe, one of the most sought-after coffee beans due to its refreshing flavor and delicate scent, is among the world's most sought-after coffee beans. It's also a fantastic source of antioxidants. It is best brewed without sugar or milk to preserve its distinctive flavor profile. It is great with savory foods to balance the sweet-salty. It's a great afternoon pick-me up.

Ethiopia is often known as the place of birth of coffee. According to the story, one goatherder named Kaldi noticed that his flock was more energetic after eating red berries that were growing near his home. He tested the berries, and found that they gave him a lot of energy. The herder then distributed the berry among his family and that was the beginning of coffee's popularity.

Coffee grown in the Yirgacheffe region of Sidamo in Ethiopia is typically wet-processed, also known as "washed." This process helps remove sour flavors and produces a bright, clean taste. In the mid-2000s global coffee prices soared to levels that were not sustainable for many farmers around the world, including in Ethiopia. However, the Yirgacheffe Coffee Farmers Cooperative Union (YCFCU) was capable of helping farmers stay in business through their fair trade programs and their ability to bargain with the market. This helped usher in an era of fruit-flavored single origin Ethiopian coffees that are referred to as the "new naturals." Today, the world is once again enjoying the unique, floral, and citrusy taste of the Yirgacheffe bean.

Geisha

Geisha is one of the most expensive coffee beans around the globe. It has a subtle tea flavor, with hints of peach, mango, and raspberry. It also has a delicate taste similar to black tea. But does the price tag really justify the price?

The Geisha variety was first discovered in the highland region of Gesha (it was mispelled along the way) in Western Ethiopia in the 1930s by the British consul. The seeds were then transferred to CATIE, Costa Rica, before being shipped to Panama by Francisco Serracin (also known as Don Pachi). The Peterson family experimented with it at their Hacienda Esmeralda Farm and found that it produced flavors with balance and smoothness.

Geisha is more than a great coffee. It has a significant impact on the communities who produce it. It allows farmers to reinvest profits in improving their farming practices and quality processes. This results in better quality for all the coffee varieties they cultivate.

Yet, many common coffee drinkers refuse to give it a go because of the high cost. Geisha coffee is well worth the price. Do yourself a favor, and get some.

Ethiopian Harrar

Many consider it to be one of the most excellent coffee beans in the world, the Ethiopian Harrar is full-bodied and exotic. This is a dry processed (natural) arabica and hails from the Oromia region, previously Harrar, in southern Ethiopia at elevations of between 4,500 to 6,300 feet. It has a distinct fruity, wine-like acidity and mocha-like flavor.

The coffee is harvested in the spring and then dried and fermented to release its flavors and aromas. Contrary to the majority of commercial coffees this coffee is made without chemicals and is low in calories. It is a great source of health benefits, like decreasing the risk of developing Alzheimer's. It is a great source of antioxidants and also contains other nutrients. It is recommended to drink a cup Ethiopian Harrar when you are empty on your stomach to reap the maximum benefits.

Ethiopian Harrar is among the world's most prized coffees, comes from the region's easternmost part of Ethiopia. It is grown near the walled town of Harrar which is situated at the highest altitudes. It has a distinctive taste and is a treat in the form of espresso or as a latte.

The coffee is sorted manually and then harvested, and finally sun-dried using traditional cloth bags. This method preserves the aromas of the beans and makes them more delicious. It is also a more sustainable process. It can be brewed using any method of brewing, but is best suited to a French Press or Pour Over.

Monsooned Malabar

One of the most unique and well-known coffees in the world Monsooned Malabar is a sweet woody and nutty coffee with a low acidity. Its name comes from a process known as "monsooning," as well as where it comes from the region that is the most arid in India in the mountainous area of Malabar which encompasses Karnataka and Kerala with protected geographical indication status.

click to read behind this coffee is somewhat apocryphal, but during the time of the British Raj, when large wooden ships carried raw coffee to Europe the cargo was often delayed by stormy conditions. When it was at sea, the humidity and the winds on board caused the beans to develop naturally, and eventually turn into a pale off-white shade. When they arrived in Europe, the beans were discovered to have a distinct, highly desirable flavor profile.

This distinctive and unique coffee processing process, also known as monsooning, is still being practiced to today in Keezhanthoor the hamlet that is high-end cocooned in the Western Ghats and surrounded by small-scale tribal farmers committed to the best quality of beans. They create a full-bodied highly aromatic and smooth coffee with notes of baker's chocolate sweet syrup and mild vanilla.

This coffee is great alone or blended with other fruity varieties, and it also stands up to milk well making it a great espresso or cafe creme coffee. It is also an extremely well-known choice for pour-overs for instance, in a Bialetti Moka pot. Due to its lower acidity, Monsooned Malabar is able to withstand temperatures as well.
