10 Of The Top Facebook Pages That I've Ever Seen. Coffee Bean Shop
Five Brooklyn Coffee Bean Shops

If you are a coffee enthusiast, you should visit a coffee shop. These shops provide a variety of whole beans from all over the world. They also sell unique trinkets, kitchenware and other items.

Some of these shops offer subscriptions to their coffee beans. Others sell the beans in bulk at their retail locations.

Porto Rico Importing Co.

Veteran coffee retailer specializing international brews as well as a range of loose teas

When you walk into this old-fashioned West Village shop, the smell of fresh roasting beans fills your nostrils. The shelves are filled with jars and bags of dark brown beans, along with tea-making equipment, coffee accessories, and sugar.

The first restaurant opened in 1907, Porto Rico was founded by Italian immigrant Patsy Albanese. At the time, Greenwich Village was seeing an influx of Italian immigrants who established businesses to cater to their culinary requirements. Albanese named the shop after the popular Puerto Rican Coffee she imported and sold - a beverage that was so popular that at the time, even the Pope would drink it.

Porto Rico offers 130 different varieties of beans, which includes those from around the globe in three locations, including Bleecker Street, Essex Market, and online. Porto Rico roasts its own beans and offers wholesale distribution to 350 restaurants in NYC and Brooklyn.

Peter Longo, the current owner and president of the company was raised over his family's bakery on Bleecker Street where his father was the owner of Porto Rico. He still runs the business in the same way to his father and grandfather.

Sey Coffee

Located along Grattan Street in Morgantown, Brooklyn's Bushwick neighborhood, Sey Coffee is both a cafe and a roaster. Co-founders Tobin Polk and Lance Schnorenberg, both 33 started roasting in a fourth-floor loft located across the street from their new shop in 2011 under the name Lofted Coffee (with local clients including Greenpoint's Budin and Soho cart service Peddler).

Sey's focus on purchasing micro-lots, or even whole harvests from single farmers--has earned it the praise of knowledgeable New York City coffee aficionados. Last year they made a 6-bag micro-lot purchase of Danilo Dones Sitio Catucai 785 from Brazil's Espirito Santo region. The beans were picked when they were ripe and then steamed to eliminate any imperfections. They were then dried on the farm following a 36-hour dry fermentation. The result is a coffee with hints of berry lemongrass, and melon.

Sey's focus on holistically improving the quality of life for growers, staff and customers extends beyond the walls of the shop. It makes use of biodegradable plastics and composts to keep waste out of the landfill and converting it into agents that reduce harmful greenhouse gases as well as nourish soil. It also eliminates gratuity, which places baristas in the position to provide their livelihoods as well as encourage them to focus on their art.

La Cabra

La Cabra is a modern specialty coffee company founded in Aarhus, Denmark in 2012. The company began with a small store and a team of dedicated employees. Their honest and innovative approach to providing a unique coffee experience has earned them a following that was not only in their hometown but all over the world.

La Carba follows a strict procedure to identify their ideal beans. They search through hundreds of varieties every year in order to select the beans that best meet their standards. They roast them lightly, adjusting their desired flavor profile. This results in a brighter taste and clarity.

The East Village store, which was opened in October of last year and has been praised by critics for its top-quality pour-overs as well as its baked goods, overseen by Jared Sexton. He previously worked at Bien Cuit, Dominique Ansel and various coffee establishments.

The shop employs the La Marzocco Modbar and the cups, plates and bowls are crafted by Wurtz ceramics, a father-and-son studio in Horsens. In a recent interview with Atlanta Coffee Shops, General Manager Ian Walla reveals that La Cabra serves about 250 different coffees per year, and typically has seven or eight different varieties available at any given time.

The Plant Coffee Roasting Plant Coffee

The Roasting Plant is a multi-unit coffee retailer, roasts and brews its coffee on the spot. Each cup is roasted and brewed according to your preferences in less than one second. It searches countries far and across the globe for the highest-quality specialty beans, which are directly sourced providing customers with choice and high-quality.

Their on-site roaster is a fluid bed machine, that is distinct from the classic drum machines used in UK coffee shops. The beans are blown around in a heated box by high-velocity air that keeps the beans suspended and allows them to be roasted at a consistent rate as they travel through the machine.

I tried the Sumatran coffee and it was very rich with an enveloping mouthfeel, dark chocolate from the fragrance was present, and the coffee began to cool while you sipped and subtle aromas of citrus fruit were detected.

The roasted coffee will be whisked into the Eversys Super-Automatic Brewing Machines and brewed according your preferences in under a minute. Customers can pick from a variety of single origins and a variety of blends.

Parlor Coffee

In 2012, the company was established in the back of a barbershop with an espresso machine that was single-group, Parlor Coffee has become an energizing roastery whose coffees can be found in top cafes, restaurants and home brewers throughout the city. Parlor is committed to sourcing top-quality beans from all over the world Each one has endured a laborious journey before getting into the hands of its roasters.

The owners, who are self-described as "passionate about craft and believe that great coffee should accessible to everyone," have created a environment that is simple, with chalkboards, compost bins, up-cycled handmade products, and minimal decor.

They roast their own blends (there were six at the time I was there) and single-origins. However, they also host cuppings on Sundays that are open to the public. Imagine it as a brewery tasting area where you can smell and taste the beans that are ground. They vary from earthy to chocolatey (one was similar to tomato!). coffeee.uk 're a bit off the beaten track however, they're well worth a trip.
