Park your vehicle in a garage or under a shelter. If possible, park your vehicle in an area where it will be insulated from the harsh environment. This will not only protect it from ice, but from falling limbs or other hazards this time of year.

Check with your insurance, because it's likely your insurance will pay for some forms of windshield chip repair. They may even waive the deductible, since repairing your windshield is so much cheaper than replacing a windshield. Should you need total windshield replacement, you may have to pay a deductible with your insurance.

My advice is do your homework on the different kits on the market. Do I have a preference? Yes, I found a company that in my opinion is the best all around company selling windshield repair kits. They offer easy-to-use, not overly complicated, innovative tools at a very reasonable price. They are honest and offer some of the best support in the industry. I've been impressed from the owner to the sales/support staff.

Since the windshield is a safety precaution and a major area of your car it will need to be in excellent conditions. If you ever plan to sell or trade in your vehicle you will not get a full value or may even lose a sale if the windshield is not in good condition. It is not safe and it definitely does not look good!

Next I inspect the crack in the dash, if the edges are curled up then you will need to trim that off with a razor blade or Xacto knife. The goal here is to get the area as level as you can. Now when doing so cut at a 45 degree angle and don't bring the ends to a point, what I mean by this is trim all the way around the crack rounding off the ends of the crack, this will insure that the crack will stop and not crack further after your repair.

The flyer should have your contact info on it, and even a little description on how most insurance companies will waive the customers deductible and pay for the repair. You know the basics. I have mine printed in 2-color. Nothing real fancy. Have them printed on normal paper, you are going to give a lot of these away.
