The Role of Gratitude in Positive Psychology (Title)
(Slide One): What is Positive Psychology? ...Positive Psychology is a branch of psychology that focuses on the wellbeing and happiness of a person. Its purpose is to study how to maintain those qualities. Both mindfulness and gratitude are just subsections of positive psychology, but they can make a huge difference in a person. Practicing gratitude especially can help develop and sustain relationships as well as positively impact your mental health.

(Slide Two): Studies on Gratitude ...A study done in 2018 focuses on how practicing gratitude can affect teenage students. The results showed a strong connection between happiness and gratitude. In fact, it showed that gratitude is likely to lead to happiness, especially towards those in college. (Slide Three) Cont... Another study from 2011 focused on the effects of stress management in a classroom and how gratitude journaling may positively impact that stress. (Slide Four) Gratitude Practices ...One of the most popular ways to practice gratitude is journaling. Many people have found much success in daily gratitude journaling. There are many other ways to practice gratitude as well. This list includes daily reflections, mindful breathing and meditation, gratitude walks, and fully immersing yourself in the moment. If you like to get extra creative, some people enjoy gratitude jars, collages, music, photography, poetry, and scrapbooking.

(Slide Five) Conclusion ...There are endless ways to practice gratitude. Over time you will learn what works best for you. It is important to find some way to practice gratitude, even if it only takes a few seconds out of your day. Finding happiness is not as daunting of a task as it seems. The more ways to practice both gratitude and mindfulness in your life begin to add up and can make a lasting difference in your life.
