Replacement UPVC Door Handles
You can find the ideal handle for your door, whether you're replacing your existing handles or adding extra security. Upvc handles are simple to install and conform to the required 92mm centres of multipoint locks.
The backplate fixing center and the keyhole/lever dimensions are the most important measurements. Compare these measurements carefully with your existing measurements prior to placing an order.
Lever/Pad
Lever pad door handles are made up of a lever handle on one side and a paddle shaped handle on the other. These are designed for use with key wind locks. However, they can be fitted to multipoint split spindle door locks.
Once you have chosen the correct handle for the doors the finishes will be listed in the drop-down menu. Not all styles of handle are available in every finish though and you should always check the technical drawings and sizes sections for the specific product you are looking to ensure that you get the correct size and fit.
When you are choosing a new set of lever pad door handles made of upvc, it is essential to ensure that they match the PZ (distance between the spindle of the handle and the center of the hole for the cylinder) of your existing multipoint locks, as they need to be in line for the doors to remain locked, either from the inside or outside. The handles we offer are designed to work with the majority of standard cylinder locks, but you should always double-check before ordering.
If you wish to upgrade to dual spindle levers you'll need to take out the handles that are currently in use and then disassemble the lock case. This will require an extra split inline cylinder. These can be bought separately and we offer an entire technical diagram to take a look at in the pictures for each product.
It is a good idea to loosen the screws that are holding your existing door handle and then check the mechanism. If the screws are too tight then you might need to loosen them even more. Then, you can remove the spindle from the door handle and replace it with a new upvc handle. Before screwing the handle into the frame, it is a good idea to ensure that it is in the right position. You can do this by placing your finger into the gap between the door frame and the door handle to ensure that it is level.
Lever/Lever
Lever door handles function as an a multi-point lock using an Euro cylinder. They can be found on a majority of double doors made of aluminium, upvc doors and some wooden doors. They are available in two forms, having the lever inside and a paddle outside. Sprung - these have a spring cassette fitted within the backplate to help bring the handle lever into a horizontal position. Non-sprung: These do NOT have a mechanism for bringing the handle lever to a horizontal position.
To fix a sagging lever door handle you must find the hole for access to the detent or pin, which is usually a small round or rectangle shaped hole or protruding pin that is located on the opposite side of the base plate. Once you have located the detent access hole or pin, you are able to remove it using the help of a screwdriver.
When the handle is in a horizontal position, you can re-install the screws and tighten them until the handle stays secured to the base plate. Consider applying a threadlocking product to the threads of screws to increase grip and prevent the threads from becoming loose over time.
There are many reasons why door handles of levers droop. The most frequent cause is that the fixings aren't tight and the lever bearing to get tangled up against the door. It could also be that the levers may not have been operated at a right angle, which causes compression of the latch mechanism and stops it from fully springing into motion.
Another reason is that the lever that is sprung is not functioning properly and this is usually due to the sprung not being in the proper position within the backplate. To determine whether the handle has returned to horizontal, simply operate it.
If your door handles are loose it is important to identify the issue fast, as this can lead to excessive wear on the screws and possibly to the handle falling off of the base plate. You should also tighten any loose screws on a regular basis to stop them from becoming looser.
Lever/Snib
These upvc door handles are also known as 'Snib' handles and have a snib lever towards the top of the lever that you can press down to lock your door if you don't have the Dummy lock. These handles are fitted with a Fullex lock 68PZ. (68mm between spindle and lock centre). We also carry a selection of other door handles with 68PZ from manufacturers such as Ferco and Fab & Fix.
Changing window handles www.repairmywindowsanddoors.co.uk is a cost-effective method to upgrade your home, whether replacing existing handles or fitting new ones on doors you've constructed in your home. There are many styles of upvc door handle available that include traditional levers on backplates, straight or curved short latches and knob handles that resemble dummy knobs for multi point locks, which are perfect for French doors.
Lever on backplate handles are often rectangular in shape but there are also oval or circular versions, which are known as rose door handles. These types of door handles are equipped with the knob or lever on a backplate that sits behind the lever or knob and is sometimes called a rosette, although certain back plates can be removed to be concealed for fixing.
There's a wide selection of chrome and coloured finishes for these handles to complement your door and other hardware, such as hinges, knobs, bolts and so on. Some handles come with grub screws to assist in firmly attaching the lever or knob to the spindle. Some handles are equipped with bathroom spindles, which are suitable for bathroom locks. They also have an release mechanism that turns the thumb and can be used on doors for bathrooms.
Mortise
The tubular latch is the most likely to be the cause if your uPVC door handle is stuck open. It could be due to many things, but the most common is the lack of lubrication on the latch plate. It is possible to solve this problem by opening the door, spraying lubricant on the handle and lock. Alternatively, it could be that the latch plate is separated from the backplate. This is a more difficult issue that requires the help of the assistance of a specialist.
A multipoint door handle is a great solution to the problem of a sticking door handle. These handles mount through the faceplate of the door and are operated with an actuated thumb turn knob or key that activates an electronic cam that locks the deadbolt. The handles are available in a number of sizes to suit different types of uPVC doors. They are also available in an array of attractive finishes to complement the existing hardware. These handles are available on the internet or through the local locksmith. They are easy to install and come with clear instructions.
You'll have to know your PZ cylinder's size to choose the correct replacement handle set. This is the distance in millimetres between the inner edge of the door frame and the centre of the hole in the handle. You will also need the type of lock for your door, whether it is a mortise or hook lock. The easiest way to find the correct handle once you know the measurements is to use the brand filter on the website. This will help you narrow down your options and then you can select the appropriate size.
A typical set of handles includes an arm, two screws of different lengths, drill guides and instructions for installation. The smart models, like the Igloohome Smart Mortise 2+ includes a complete mortice lock with built-in keypad. These are more complicated units that are best for professional installers or highly skilled DIYers. Certain handle sets come with many accessories, including weather strips, which can be used to enhance the appearance of the door.
