Replacement UPVC Door Handles
Find the perfect handle for your door, whether you are replacing your existing handles or adding security. These upvc handles are easy to install and conform to the required 92mm centres for multipoint locks.
The most important measurements to take into consideration are the backplate fixing centers and key hole dimensions and levers. Check these carefully against your current measurements prior to ordering.
Lever/Pad
Lever pad handles consist of a lever on one side and a handle that is shaped like a paddle on the other. These are designed for use with key wind locks. However, they can be fitted to multipoint split spindle door locks.
Our range of upvc handle lever pads are available in a wide range of finishes. These will be shown in the drop-down menu after you have identified the right handle for your doors. Certain types of handles are not available in all finishes. Always examine the technical drawing and dimensions for the item you are looking to ensure that you receive the correct size and fit.
It is important that when selecting a new set upvc lever pad handles, they match the PZ (distance from the handle spindle to the middle of the hole in the cylinder) of your multipoint door locks. This is because the handles are required to be aligned for the doors to stay locked, regardless of whether you are looking from the inside or from the outside. Our handles are designed to fit most conventional cylinders, but it is important to double-check before purchasing.
You'll need to remove the handles on your current handle and remove the lock case if upgrading to dual spindle levers for your handle since this will require a split inline cylinder. These can be bought separately and we offer a full technical diagram for you to look at in the images for each product.
After you have removed the screws that hold the door handle you have, it is recommended to loosen them and inspect the mechanism to determine what condition it is in. If the screws aren't loose enough, you may need to loosen them further. After that, you can take the spindle from the handle and replace it with your new Upvc handle. Before screwing the handle into place it is recommended to check that it is in the proper place. You can do this by putting your finger into the gap between the frame of the door and the handle to make sure it is in a level position.
Lever/Lever
Lever door handles operate a multi point lock using an Euro cylinder. They can be found on a majority of upvc double doors, aluminium doors and some wooden doors. They come in two types, with a lever on the interior and a paddle on the outside. Sprung - They have an internal spring cassette within the backplate to help bring the handle lever to an upright position. Non-sprung: These do NOT have a mechanism for bringing the handle lever to a horizontal position.
To fix a door handle that is sagging it is necessary to find the hole for access to the detent or pin, which is typically a small round or rectangle shape hole or protruding pin located on one side of the handle base plate. Once you have located the detent access hole or pin, you can remove it with a screwdriver.
Once the handle is in a horizontal position, you can re-install the screws and tighten them until the handle stays secured to the base plate. It is also recommended to apply a threadlocking adhesive to the screw threads to improve the grip and stop them from becoming loose over time.
There are a myriad of reasons that door handles for levers slide. The most common reason is that the fixings have been over tightened and are putting strain on the bearings of the lever, causing it to bind against the door face. It could also be that the levers may not have been adjusted at the right angle, which stretches the latch mechanism, preventing it from fully springing into operation.
A common cause of a sprung lever not working properly is that the spring is not being in the correct position on the backplate. The simplest way to check this is to move the handle and see if it returns to its horizontal position.
If your door handles are loose, it is important to identify the issue quickly, since this could lead to excessive wear on the screws and possibly to the handle falling off the base plate. It is also recommended to tighten any loose screws on a regular basis to stop them from becoming looser.
Lever/Snib
These handles made of upvc are also referred to as handle sets with a 'Snib' and have a snib button towards the top of the lever that you can press down to lock your door in the event that you don't use a fake lock. These door handles are fitted with the Fullex lock 68PZ. (68mm between spindle and lock centre). We also stock a variety of other door handles with 68PZ from manufacturers like Ferco and Fab & Fix.
You can upgrade your home by changing the door handles whether you are replacing existing handles or installing new ones on doors you constructed. There are a variety of styles of door handles made from upvc available that include traditional levers on backplate, curved or straight short latches and knob handles with dummy handles for multi point locks, which are ideal for French doors.
Lever on backplate handles are usually rectangular, but there are also circular or oval shaped versions that are referred to as rose door handles. These kinds of door handles are equipped with an a knob or lever on a backplate that sits behind the knob or lever and is often referred to as a rosette. However, some back plates can be removed to allow for concealed fixing.
The handles are available in a variety of finishes, including chrome and coloured finishes, to match your door and other hardware like knobs, bolts and hinges. Some handles come with grub screws, which assist in firmly attaching the lever or knob to the spindle. Some handles come with bathroom spindles that are suitable for bathroom locks. They also come with a thumbturn release mechanism and can be used on doors for bathrooms.
Mortise
If your front door's uPVC handle is stuck in the open position, the cause is most likely to be related to the tubular latch. There could be a variety of factors that could cause this, the most common being the simple lack of lubrication on the latch plate. This can be fixed quite quickly by opening the door and spraying lubricant on the lock and handle. repairmywindowsanddoors could also be that the latch has slipped away from the backplate. This could be more of a problem and requires a professional to fix it.
A multipoint handle is the ideal solution for stuck door handles. These handles mount through the door's faceplate and are operated by a thumb turn knob or key which activates an electronic cam that locks the deadbolt. The handles are available in different sizes to fit various kinds of uPVC doors and are available in a variety of attractive finishes that complement the hardware that is currently in use. These handles can be purchased on the internet or through an authorized locksmith in your area. They are easy to install and come with clear instructions.
If you want to replace the handle set, you'll have to know the PZ size of the cylinder. This is the distance from the edge of the frame of the door to the center point of the handle hole in millimetres. You'll also require the type of lock that is installed on your door, whether it's a mortise or hook lock. Once you have these measurements, the simplest method to determine the right handles is to use the filter by brand on the website. This will narrow down your options, and you will then select the correct size from the list.
A typical set of handles includes a handle unit, two screws of different lengths, drill guides and instructions for installation. Smarter versions, such as the Igloohome Smart Mortise 2+ include a mortice lock with keypad. These are more complicated models that are best suited to professional installers or highly competent DIYers. Some handle sets have a range of other accessories, like weather strips that can be used to improve the look of the door.
