The All Terrain Stroller Best For Parents
The UPPAbaby VISTA V2 stroller is an excellent choice for parents who are looking for durability and versatility. Built to adapt as your family grows the stroller can easily roll over rugged terrain.
Think about the places where you'll often use your stroller - grassy parks, sandy beaches, rocky pathways? All strollers are designed to tackle these types of terrains.
Baby Jogger Summit X3
The Summit X3 is one of Baby Jogger's most loved strollers. It is a hybrid jogger/stroller that can be used for jogging or walking on any terrain. The large air-filled tires and all-wheel suspension offer a comfortable ride for your baby. Its padded seat reclines nearly flat and is endorsed by the European Commission for babies*. A vented top for the seat increases the flow of air when the seat is reclined. This model also can be used with the majority of infant car seats by using the adaptor that comes with it. It comes with a signature one-hand fold that is extremely quick and easy.
It's at the more expensive end of all terrain running strollers (like the BOBs) however, it does have a lot going for it. The single-action brakes have an reassuring click, and are easy to operate, even while you are holding your child in your arms. The hand-operated brake can be useful, particularly when climbing uphill.
Another cool feature is the remote action swivel lock, located on the handlebar. It allows you to swiftly switch from swivel to locked mode for running without having to bend down and touch the front wheels, which may become dirty or muddy. When you're done, simply turn the lever to the swivel position.
Best all-terrain stroller , with side air vents and peek-aboo windows. The canopy offers plenty of coverage to protect your child from the sun, and it can be adjusted for varying conditions. It is rated for walking at 6 months, and jog for 9 months. It folds using a pull of the handle in the fabric on the seat, which is easy and quick even while holding your child. When folded, it is compact and secured with a Velcro strap.
BOB Gear Alternate Pro
The BOB Gear Alterrain Pro jogging stroller is a highly rated product with a superior suspension to ensure an easy ride for your child. The company's special technology, dubbed SmoothShox, absorbs bumps and jerks, reducing the transfer of that impact to your child and parent. The system is distinct from competitors like the Revolution Flex 3.0 which has an amazing adjustable suspension, but it lacks the same technology as the Alterrain Pro.
The jogger's massive 16-inch rear wheels as well as the 12 inch front wheel are designed to roll over uneven terrain and offer plenty of maneuverability. The air-filled wheels offer maximum performance and durability, while adding a layer of comfort to your child.
The Alterrain Pro is easy-to-maneuver and requires a minimal amount of setup time even with its weight. The Alterrain Pro comes with a user manual and assembly isn't required. The Alterrain Pro travel system is compatible with a range of infant car seats such as those from Britax, UPPAbaby and Chicco.
Its sunshade scored an upper score than others we tested, covering to the knees to provide a superior shield from harmful UV radiation. It also features a padded seat, sling-style design and a reclining back that is easy to operate by pressing down on a single lever with the palm of your hand. The padded legrest extends to the footrest made of plastic, which adds the feeling of comfort. The Alterrain Pro has a sleek and modern look to it and is more refined than other models made by the brand. The aluminum frame tubing has minimal left-to right flex and the stitching around the handlebar, canopy and basket is clean and tidy with no bunched up fasteners.
BOB Sport Utility
The stroller, which is available in duallie or single form, is designed for parents who take their outdoor adventures seriously. It's built for off-road strolling with knobby tires and high-impact polymer wheels which maximize traction. The fixed front wheel helps with jogging stability and helps navigate difficult terrain. The adjustable suspension is state of the art and can handle any bumps. It comes with a handlebar that can be adjusted to accommodate parents of different heights. It also comes with an enormous storage basket to store all of your equipment.
BOB Sport Utility scored 6 out of 10 which is lower than only the BOB Ironman, our top-rated model. The suspension and large wheels make it smoother to run with and its air-filled tires and suspension system can better absorb the impact of rough surfaces than the smaller tires on rival joggers (including our other BOB strollers including the Revolution Flex and the Thule Urban Glide 2 which both scored 9).
In terms of maneuverability, the Sport Utility does very well but it's not as easy to turn like some of the other models in this review. It is necessary to tip the handlebar to turn. This works well on flat surfaces, but it can be difficult to navigate in tight spaces like cafes or grocery stores.
The BOB Sport utility comes with the same safety features that the majority of other joggers provide such as a 5-point belt with a foot brake as well as hand brake. It also has the capacity to accommodate the majority of infant car seats by using adapters that are sold separately. The brakes were nimble and easy to operate, however we were not a fan of the fact the requirement to place a lock near the front seat whenever you were walking or running.
Baby Trend Expedition
This stroller is an excellent option for families with a tight budget. It has all the necessary safety features, such as a 5-point harness and tether strap, to keep your kids safe during excursions. The handlebar is ergonomically designed with a large grip made of rubber. It's also cushioned with foam to ensure comfort. This makes it easier to navigate hills and rough terrain. It also comes with a huge storage bin that can hold two or more drinks, which is useful for long outings.
The Expedition is a jogger that can carry infant car seats. It's a great choice for parents of small children. It's capable of affixing baby Trend and Graco infant car seats with the car seat adapter included and also comes with an adjustable lockable front swivel that can be unlocked to allow jogging, or lock it to allow for easy strolling. It also has the multi-position reclining chair and a large storage basket and footrest reflectors that enhance low-light visibility.
The Expedition isn't as effective in certain categories as our top-scoring models. It doesn't come with a suspension system that helps to absorb the force of bumps or uneven ground which can be uncomfortable for children who are just starting out. The wheels made of metal don't last as long as those with larger tires, so it isn't an ideal choice for rough surfaces.
The canopy of the Expedition is tiny and, doesn't offer much protection or coverage from the sun. Despite its flaws, the Baby Trend Expedition makes a excellent choice for parents on a the tightest budget and want an all-terrain stroller. It also comes with other convenient features such as a tray for the parent with cup holders, as well as a tray for the child with two cupholders.
Nipper Sport V4: What You Need to Know
UK brand Out 'n' About has gained a huge following for its range of jogging buggies, and this model is their most popular running buggy. It's light and easy to steer and has robust 16" wheels that can take on even the most challenging terrain. It features a fixed front wheel, so it's easy to lock straight for running, but you can use the handlebar's lever to release it and let the wheel rotate for casual strolling or climbing hills.
The suspension is excellent especially on bridleways that are bumpy and rocky. The only issue we had was that the brake on the handlebar isn't as responsive as we'd like, and the Nipper Sport V4 can't be used with a baby car or car seat (although it can take an infant insert and has an appropriate carrycot for occasional night-time sleeps).
The instructions are very clear and we were capable of putting it together in less than 10 minutes. The hood and the seat lining have to be put on by you however it's not too difficult. It just takes patience to feed the harness straps into the respective slits on the cushioned seat liners. The seat's back is a medium-sized storage pouch but it's not enough to hold a change bag.
The Out 'n' About Nipper Sport V4 is suitable for use starting at the moment of birth. However, it's recommended that you wait until the child is six months old before using it to run. This is due to the fact that the harness isn't sturdier enough to hold a newborn, so you'll need to buy an additional carrycot or insert for newborns.
