20 Fun Informational Facts About Suzuki Swift Key
Suzuki Swift Replacement Key

If you've lost your keys, the first step is to follow the steps (coat and trouser pockets included). You may be asked to show proof of ownership, like the title of your vehicle or registration.

Next, if your car is recent, it may have transponder chips or a smart key/fob which needs programming to match the immobiliser device in the vehicle. A locksmith in the automotive industry can assist.

Keyless Entry

Keyless entry lets you unlock your car and then start it without needing to insert your key into the lock. This system uses radio signals that emanate from the vehicle, and a key fob which searches for the signals. When the key fob is within range of the radio signals, it sends a code back that unlocks the door and deactivates the vehicle's standard immobiliser located in the engine control module (ECU).

Certain systems have a remote ignition feature that allows you to start your car using the key fob or a button that is located on the dashboard. This feature can be a lifesaver when you have to go out and buy groceries, or if keys are accidentally locked inside.

Convenience is the most obvious benefit. You'll be able to gain access to your vehicle without having wander around in the dark with your key which can be a hassle for those who carry a lot of things. You can also unlock the trunk or hatch using this system, which is ideal for transporting cargo.

If your keyless entry or push-button start isn't working it could be because of a problem with the key fob battery. If this is the case it is usually evident by looking for buttons on the back of the key fob that you can press. If this doesn't help you, you might need to bring your vehicle to a locksmith or a professional dealer to get the keyfob programed.

Immobiliser

The Immobiliser is a built-in security device that blocks you from opening your car without an ignition key. It works by comparing a digital code stored in the key fob or key with a unique code stored inside the vehicle's ECU. When the codes are in sync, the ECU will activate the fuel system and ignition. If the codes do not match the fuel pump and ignition will be blocked and your car won't begin.

The Immobiliser is effective in preventing thieves from hot wiring or re-starting your vehicle however it's not 100% secure. Determined criminals can defeat it. It is essential to take other precautions, such as keeping valuables secure and not leaving them inside the car when you're away.

Another security measure is to use a faraday bag, which will block the signal between the key fob and the car's electronics and make it impossible for criminals to steal and replicate the signal. The most recent Suzuki models also have a second security measure that requires the key to be placed close to the ignition when turning it on.

Modern immobilisers are still vulnerable to attacks from criminals with advanced capabilities despite the measures. In one study, researcher Jaap Bokslag attempted to steal three vehicles that were popular and then crack the immobiliser within a matter of minutes by exploiting known weaknesses in the system.

Security System

Suzukis are some of the most popular vehicles on Australian roads. They have a factory-installed immobiliser that prevents them from being hot-wired. The key is equipped with tiny transponder chips, about the size of one PS1 penny, that sends an individual code to electronic control unit (ECU) of the vehicle. If the ECU doesn't receive this message when you insert the key into the ignition barrel, your vehicle won't start.

Suzuki dealers installed two different dealer-installed systems to 1996. The first system was produced by Advance Security. The original keyfob featured the Suzuki logo on the front, and the FCC ID B23AT54 at the back. The original keyfob was discontinued, but a 2-button Hellfire remote (also made by Advance Security) is still available for purchase at Remotes Unlimited.

In the year 2000, most new Suzukis will come equipped with a factory key-lock mechanism that has a built in immobiliser. The key is fitted with tiny chips that function as transponder. It is hidden under the cap made of plastic. The chip has a code that the ECU of the vehicle searches for when the key is inserted into the ignition barrel. If suzuki key car on the new key does not match the one that is in your ECU and the car does not start, it will not start. Auckland locksmiths are able to fix the issue quickly and inexpensively even if the issue is difficult to solve.

Keys

Most Suzukis are equipped with a key which has an embedded microchip (transponder chip), which is smaller than a coin that you keep in your pocket. When you insert the key into the ignition barrel of your vehicle and turn it on, the ECU detects the code on the chip. If it does not match, the car will not start. If you have lost your key and don't have a spare you will need an auto locksmith who has the appropriate equipment to replace it.

I supply and program two or three Suzuki transponder keys and smart key fobs every week. They are simple to do. If you have lost your keys, then you will need to visit your dealer or a locksmith who has a decent diagnostic device to code your new replacement. This process could be as long as a week for genuine Suzuki dealers. Auto Locksmiths are equipped with this equipment to code and can perform the process much faster and less expensive. This is not true for non-transponder keys that do not require coding.
