The Holland Lops’ class is mammal, they are mammals because they have many traits of other mammals such as having fur, having ears, breathing oxygen, reproduces sexually, and they have a fully developed brain. Their order is a Lagomorpha, they are lagomorpha because they are part of the family called Leporidae. Their family is Leporidae because the Leporidae family are a family that include over 60 species of rabbits or hares in all. The Holland Lops’ are considered Oryctolagus Cuniculus, they are considered as Oryctolagus Cuniculus because some other rabbits dig underground burrows.
Holland Lops gets food by digging for food. They either eat fruit and vegetables from someone's garden, find their food on the ground, eat grass, or find fields which are growing corn or wheat. Wild rabbits will eat any type of edible plants, and will also eat twigs and bark. Rabbits breathe with their noses, but if they breath with their mouths they have severe respiratory distress. When a rabbit eats, the food travels from the mouth, down the oesophagus, into the stomach, and inside the small intestine. The small intestine is responsible for absorbing the nutrients from the food, as food travels along it, enzymes break the food down into individual nutrients that are small enough to pass through the lining of the intestine and be absorbed into the bloodstream. Enzymes can't break down fibre, so in most mammals the fibre portion of the food would travel on through the colon and be excreted as waste. Rabbit breeds of medium to large size are sexually mature at 4 to 4.5 months, giant breeds at 6 to 9 months, and small breeds (like the Polish Dwarf and Dutch) at 3.5 to 4 months. Pregnancy usually lasts around 31 to 33 days. If a rabbit hasn’t given birth by day 32 of her pregnancy, the bunny is probably dead.
Holland Lops is a breed of rabbit originating in the Netherlands. Many people are surprised to learn that large birds are a predator to rabbits, especially if the rabbit is a baby, young or a small breed type. Some examples of predators are hawks, sparrows, falcons, owls, weasels, ferrets, badgers, stoats, and snakes. Rabbits can use their excellent vision, hearing and smell, a rabbit can sense the presence of a predator, such as fox or a raccoon. A mother rabbit has the ability to fend off a snake or another animal twice her size when she is trying to protect her young. Because wild rabbits can be quite brutal when they are cornered or trying to protect themselves, it's not a good idea to pick one up or try to catch it.
