I just want to start off and say that joining Science Olympiad is one of the best decisions I ever made. I had originally joined freshman year but quickly quit because the atmosphere felt very tense and unwelcoming. However, when I joined this year it felt completely different. I felt like even though I didn't know much about my events at first, captains and others were always there and willing to help.
Now I don't know all of you guys personally but I do know one thing: you guys are all extremely hard working. There is no way we have come this far and achieved this much because you guys are solely talented. Now many of you guys are but your intelligence has also been backed up by many of the efforts that you have put it. Yes sometimes you falter, we all do. Yes it's so easy to feel like nothing's going to work out. But if you believe that and you don't try your best to change your situation then that's what will happen.
"Whether you think you can, or you think you can't - you're right." - Henry Ford
Whether or not a situation works out if what you make of it. The pressure and workload is on in preparation for States but I strongly believe that everyone can do it. Try and put your best effort in every single day, and if you don't meet your goal one time don't beat yourself up. Try again the next day and improve and do better. There is nothing wrong with failure and falling down, what matters is that you get up and recover.
We might have done too well at iSlip but we were able to bounce right back up and do great at Regionals, Yale and Cougar. So let's keep this momentum going and get 1st at States and go to Nationals, the place that we deserve.
My favorite quote of all time and highly applicable - "Effort won't betray you."
And lastly I just want to say that if anyone has any trouble with procrastination or motivation or want help and/or resources for school or just want to talk, feel free to hit me up on Facebook! I have a bunch of resources that I would really love if they could come to use and help someone.
