Jika Pogrebin berhasil membuntuti manusia selama berjam-jam, perasaan putus asa yang hebat akan melanda si manusia, yang akhirnya akan tenggelam dalam perasaan lesu dan nelangsa. Ketika korban berhenti berjalan dan jatuh berlutut, menangis karena merasa segala yang ia lakukan sia-sia, Pogrebin akan melompat dan mencoba memangsanya.
