Tolits is a hardworking kid that works hard for himself and his mother Dina. Their past was painful for her mother because when she gave birth to Tolits, his father left her which caused her to be mentally ill. At the time he was also born, the arrival of whale sharks in Oslob, Cebu had also happened. 13 years later, the fishing town in Oslob becomes a sanctuary for the whale sharks. Tolits worked there as a photographer for tourists and became friends with the whale sharks and with the help of his best friend Ening, who gives him and his mother food, they can survive every day.

One day, Tolits wanted to learn at a school so that he could have a great job and future for both him and his mother. But he knew that they don't have enough money to go to school. So, he asked for help to his close acquaintance, Kuya Aris. He knew that Kuya Aris will soon leave to Manila so that he can work to study and so Tolits wanted to come too. Kuya Aris agreed with that plan, but Tolits knew that his mother wouldn't let him go to Manila after the trauma she had from his father leaving them both. The only way Tolits could learn is if he run away from home and so he did that even though it is heavy for his heart. When they arrived at Manila, they worked hard for their boss to make them go to school after 1 year of work. Months later, Typhoon Haiyan went by to Oslob, Cebu where his mother is living and caused the wall of their house to collapse. Luckily, she was not harmed and was in a good condition, but Tolits couldn't stop worrying about his mother and went back home because he also feels that the job he is doing is not for him.

Tolits went back home and found his mother in a good condition and so he hugged her for that. When the night has come Tolits was going to pick up his mother from playing with her friends. Even though Dina's friends already left she still wouldn't go home. Tolits felt sad knowing that his mother is still mentally ill and was going to leave her, but his mother stopped him. He was shocked but his mother talked to him and promised that she will be more kind to him and take care of him from that day on. Weeks later her mother is normal again and is not mentally ill anymore. Tolits can go to school now with the help of his mother and as he was leaving to school his father came back to meet them and live with them once again.
