The HGNs presented a wide surface plasmon resonance character in the visible region from 540 to 630 nm, and further acted as the scatter elements and light energy 'antennas' to trap the local-field light near the TiO2NR/CdS layer, resulting in the increase of the light harvesting
An outstanding enhancement in the photochemical behaviour of TiO2NR/HGN/CdS photoanodes was attained by the contribution of HGNs in increasing the light absorption and the number of electron-hole pairs of photosensitive semiconductors. The optimized photochemical performance of TiO2NR/HGN/CdS photoanodes by using plasmonic HGNs demonstrated their potential application in Autonomous cycling between excitatory and inhibitory coupling in photosensitive Morgantown, West Virginia 26506-6045, USA.Photochemically coupled Belousov-Zhabotinsky micro-oscillators are studied in experiments and simulations. The photosensitive oscillators exhibit excitatory or inhibitory coupling depending on the surrounding reaction mixture composition, which can be systematically varied. In-phase or out-of-phase synchronization is observed with predominantly excitatory or inhibitory coupling, respectively, and complex frequency cycling between excitatory and inhibitory coupling is found between these extremes. The dynamical behavior is characterized in terms of the corresponding phase response curves, and a map representation of the dynamics is presented.

Non volatile constituents of the vermouth ingredient Artemisia vallesiaca.and Surgery, Via D. Montesano 49, 80131 Naples, Italy.Enology Sciences Section, Viale Italia, 83100 Avellino, Italy. Electronic The Alpine wormwood Artemisia vallesiaca All. was considered the most valuable ingredient of vermouth, a celebrated aromatized wine. A.

vallesiaca has a very limited geographical distribution, and the booming market of vermouth decimated its natural population, resulting in the eventual replacement of this rare species with more common and less expensive wormwoods like A. absinthium L.. Over the past years, attempts to revive the original recipe(s) of vermouth have fostered the establishment of cultivations of A. vallesiaca in pre-montane settings. In order to assist these projects, the phytochemical profile of cultivated plants and of several native populations of A. vallesiaca from the Swiss Valais were comparatively evaluated, focusing on sesquiterpene lactones and on lipophilic flavonoids, the hallmark constituents of Artemisia species.

Remarkably, no significant difference was detected between the samples, despite the different origins. The lipophilic flavonoids of A. vallesiaca were similar to those of related species used in the production of vermouth, but the presence of C-9 oxygenated 11β-methyl germacranolides and eudesmanolides (herbolides) made its sesquiterpene lactone profile peculiar. In addition to known compounds, two novel germacranolides were also characterized (herbolides J and K), and the major sesquiterpene lactone from the plant, the bitter germacranolide herbolide A. vallesiaca. Taken together, Characterization and Spectroscopic Analysis of 6-butyl-n-hydroxynaphthimide trifluoromethanesulfonic acid qualify herbolides as marker to identify A. vallesiaca in aromatized alcohol matrixes.

Comparative genomics identifies new alpha class genes within the avian glutathione S-transferase gene cluster.Glutathione S-transferases (GSTs: EC28) are a superfamily of multifunctional dimeric enzymes that catalyze the conjugation of glutathione (GSH) to electrophilic chemicals. In most animals and in humans, GSTs are the is a common contaminant of poultry feeds. The extreme susceptibility of turkeys is associated with hepatic GSTs unable to detoxify the highly reactive and comparative genomic approaches were used to amplify and identify the alpha-class tGST genes (tGSTA1, tGSTA1, tGSTA1, tGSTA2, tGSTA3 and tGSTA4) from turkey liver. Photoacid Generator and four alpha-class signature motifs in turkey GSTs (with the exception of tGSTA1 which lacked one motif) confirm the presence of hepatic alpha-class GSTs in the turkey. Four signature motifs and containing the alpha-class GST gene cluster was isolated and sequenced. The turkey alpha-class GTS genes genetically map to chromosome MGA2 with synteny between turkey and human alpha-class GSTs and flanking genes.

This study identifies the alpha-class tGST gene cluster and genetic markers (SNPs, single susceptibility and resistance in turkeys. Functional characterization of heterologously expressed proteins from these genes is currently underway.Seasonal variation of dicarboxylic acids in PM(2) in Beijing: Implications for the formation and aging processes of secondary organic aerosols.Dicarboxylic acids are a group of highly oxidized components, which can provide insights into the formation mechanism and aging process of secondary organic aerosols (SOA). Based on the 12-h day and night PM2 samples collected in downtown Beijing in January, April, July and October of 2017, dicarboxylic acids and relevant components were measured to investigate their seasonal variation pattern and sources.
