The scooby doo movie is far from the worst of the live motion incarnations of the Hanna-Barbera animated phenomenon. It features a fairly sturdy solid and the cartoon characters are captured pretty well. The problem is the high-tech hooey and compulsory outbursts of flatulence in the soundtrack that overwhelm what is left of the scruffy, dopey previous appeal that made this collection so interesting.

The story issues a theme park attraction being used as a prison for a gaggle of demons. When a flying pterodacty and an evil masked man flip as much as wreck havoc with the guests it becomes obvious that Mystery Incorporated has obtained their arms full. To make matters worse Fred and Daphne's slacker nephew Scrappy-Doo turns up to try to get revenge on the gang for booting him out of the staff way back when.

It quickly transpires that the theme park is being used by a group of demonic creatures to steal people's souls utilizing an historic pyramid-shaped artifact called the Daemon Ritus. This ritual requires a pure sacrifice (aka a dog) to be carried via a mystical energy stream that can then be extracted from the slain animal's body, giving the villain absolute power over the world.
