- latino vs Hispanic – Hispanic is one who speaks Spanish and is from a country that speaks Spanish, latino is a term for the people who have their heritage in latin America. Brazilians speak Portuguese, therefore they aren’t Hispanic, but they are latino.
- ethnic discrimination: it is a weapon for many people that are used against marginalized people.
- spread more awareness!!! Encourage diversity! Promote diverse cultures!!!!!

- It comes from more of an American view than European, let’s say. America’s diverse, and there are a lot of mixed people.
- Race, when it is asked for documents, is such a doozy to deal with. Why would it matter? Even the word race is tricky to define, a social construct that is made by other people… it can be used to discriminate others, ig.
- One word that is closest to defining ‘race’ is ‘rotu’ meaning ‘breed’, ‘breed’ and ‘mixed race’ is more so used to define animals…
- Something about African americans I didn’t quite catch…
- The European point of view is a bit different.
- European are more focused on ethnicity than America on race.

- What is racism? We go back to the slaves…..
- East Europeans were sold as slaves, then prince harry thought about Africans… sth about being more easily spotted DAMN
- To find a job, the rabbithole therefore begins
- Servants and slaves weren’t all that different, apparently, and they came together to fight back, so the whites were so angry that they separated the servants from the slaves/
- Whites began to think that white is better, that whites have more rights, and so, the slaves began to do sth called ‘assimilation’, aka pretend to be ‘white’ if that’s correct to say to escape…

- Discrimination is also present in asia, w covid esp, attacked, harassed, even now in 2023, people are still being mocked for an event…….
- In conclusion, education is important! Becoming aware is the first step, as hatred breeds destruction.

- What’s culture? Mythology, language sometimes, mentality, literature, art,
- Culture is the soul of humanity, the mosaic of arts and ^^

- Personal experience!!!! Living in Romania, the one presenting has greatly been influenced by Japanese culture!
