Why Window Repair Is Necessary

Some skilled artists apply a water repellent preservative to the wood that is unfinished and then thinned with boiling oil prior to painting. This helps to slow the penetration of moisture into the wood, which will help the new paint to stick better.

If paint starts to chip, it's the time to consider repairing your window. Before applying a new coat, place a drop cloth or tarp over the area you're working to catch any stray drops of paint. Remove any loose paint with a utility blade. Be careful not to cut the wood below or cut into the sheathing beneath. Clean the area thoroughly and allow it to dry completely.
