The fan on the evaporator of the indoor heat pump blows air over the aluminium or copper coils. The coils have grooved surfaces inside to increase the surface area and assist in the transfer of heat. The fan keeps the air moving at a steady speed to minimize drafts and decrease noise. Some models include a desuperheater which recovers the wasted heat from the evaporator when it is in cooling mode and utilizes it to efficiently heat water in your home.
