KITCHEN ESSENTIALS & BASIC PREPARATION
STUDENT ORIENTATION

1. What were the two or three main idea/concepts I found useful in today’s session, and why?

I've discovered that professionalism is one of the most important traits to possess if one hopes to work for themselves as a chef in the future. Success in the culinary arts, as in other field, depends on having a professional approach. Being a professional means handling your work with respect, aiming for perfection at all times, and conducting yourself with honesty.

2. What beliefs of mine have changed about teaching and learning as a result of this session?

The choice to seek a career in professional cooking is the belief that has genuinely changed me. I never saw myself in a kitchen, cooking delicious food for other people, when I was a child. But as I grew older, I developed a love for experimenting with flavours and ingredients in the kitchen. My pursuit of a profession in the food sector began with my exploration, pushed on by this newfound love.

3. One thing I learned in this session that I may be able to use in the future is…

During this session, I gained knowledge about the attributes that lead to a professional chef's success in the culinary field. An expert chef's attention to detail is one of their most valuable traits. A competent chef needs to be precise in every part of their preparation to guarantee a dish of the highest calibre, from the ingredients they use to the way the food is presented. Professional chefs differentiate themselves from amateur cooks with this attention to detail, which also enables them to provide their patrons with unforgettable culinary experiences.

4. Issues that interested me a lot, and that I would like to study in more detail

I have always been interested in the Industrial Revolution and its impact on various aspects of society, including the culinary world. The Industrial Revolution was a period of rapid industrial growth and technological advancements that transformed the way goods were produced and consumed. This era saw the rise of factories, mass production, and urbanization, which ultimately had a profound influence on the way people ate and cooked their food. New kitchen gadgets and appliances that transformed food preparation were among the major innovations of the Industrial Revolution. For instance, the creation of canned goods and packaged foods made it easier for people to obtain a larger variety of ingredients, while the introduction of the gas stove and refrigerator allowed for more accurate and efficient cooking.

5. I am still unsure about

I am still unsure about famous chef and entrepreneur. While I appreciate their contributions to the culinary world, I cannot ignore the troubling reports of their behavior. As a student, I believe it is important to support individuals who uphold values of integrity, respect, and fairness. I hope that famous chef and entrepreneur will take steps to address these concerns and demonstrate a commitment to ethical practices in the future. Until then, I will continue to tread carefully in my admiration for them.


6. What did we not cover that I expected we should?

Joking about in the classroom can have a big effect on the children. One effective strategy for fostering a supportive and engaging learning environment is humour. Jokes can assist teachers relieve tension and create a more relaxed and fun learning environment for their students. This may result in more students being motivated and engaged in class activities.

7. What strategies have I used in the past were reinforced by this session; Have I been discouraged from any others?

In order for us to learn English more effectively, you encourage us to talk and set a positive example. Even though we are not yet wise, you always make an effort to help what we are learning.

8. Miscellaneous interesting facts I learned in this session… in this session…

The facts I have learned about the benefits of being a good person have reinforced my belief in the importance of kindness, empathy, and compassion in our interactions with others. Not only does being a good person lead to increased happiness and well-being, but it also enhances our relationships, promotes success, and contributes to a more harmonious and supportive society. By striving to be good people in our daily lives, we can make a positive impact on the world around us and create a more caring and compassionate community for all.
