In a visionary move to create a greener and more sustainable future for Andhra Pradesh, former Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has breathed new life into the environmental initiative, 'Mission Harita Andhra Pradesh.' This ambitious mission, with the theme of 'green cover for a happy living,' aims to elevate the state's green cover to an impressive 50 percent by the year 2029. While 'Mission Harita Andhra Pradesh' is a recent development under Chandrababu Naidu's leadership, it's important to note the historical context. This translates to an annual planting of 25-30 crore trees, with the ultimate goal of achieving a 50 percent green cover by 2029. Recognizing the critical role of citizens in environmental conservation, the government calls upon individuals to plant one crore saplings on the mission's launch day. To ensure accountability, the planted saplings will be geo-tagged, and geofencing will safeguard the plantations. Notably, women's self-help groups will be actively involved, contributing to the growth of seedlings under the MGNREGA scheme, providing 100 days of work annually.
