Charm adalah mantra atau bentuk suatu perapalan dari sebuah rentetan kata yang telah dimodifikasi untuk menambah, mengurangi, atau mengubah sebagian dari objek
- Fidelius charm adalah mantra yang berfungsi untuk menyimpan rahasia seseorang dalam jiwa penjaga rahasia. Charm ini merupakan salah satu mantra paling kuno, kompleks dan juga memiliki efek yg luar biasa, yaitu menyembunyikan objek yang dapat merupakan mahkluk hidup sampai objek mati sekalipun. Objek yang sudah dimantrai dengan Fidelius Charm tidak akan tampak hingga rahasianya terbuka sendiri.
- Dalam melakukan mantra ini dibutuhkan setidaknya 3 pihak. Yaitu secret keeper, perapal, dan objek yang mau disembunyikan itu sendiri. Tugas pemantra di sini yaitu merapalkan fidelius charm ke arah Secret's Keeper dan target.
- Setelah mantra Fidelius dirapalkan, maka objek yang mau disembunyikan akan 'menghilang'. Jika objek itu manusia maka manusianya tidak dapat terlihat kecuali oleh secret's keeper atau orang yang dibocorkan rahasia ini oleh secret's keeper. Begitu juga hal yang berlaku jika objek mantra adalah benda atau tempat.
- Contoh penerapan mantra ini adalah saat James dan Lily Potter menyembunyikan tempat tinggal mereka dari Lord Voldemort, dimana Peter Pettigrew berperan sebagai Secret's Keeper mereka.
