5:3: Means that to be poor in spirit, is to aknowledge our deepest need for God, growing in that longing and desire on a daily basis. Someone said, "God, I want to feel like I got this!. But God responded, if You ever feel like you 'got this'... You'll never need me." Sarah Jakes
James 2:5 "Listen, my beloved brothers, has not God chosen those who are poor in the world to be rich in faith and heirs of the kingdom, which he has promised to those who love him?

5:4 God is near to them, with them. Psalms 23:4 "Yea though I walk.."
Psalm 34:18 The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit.

5:5: Gentleness or meekness is the oppsosite to self-assetiveness and self-interest. It stems from trust in God's goodness and control over the situation. The gentle person is not occupied with self at all. This is a work of the Holy Spirit, not human will according to Galations 5:23 (But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.)

5:6 John 4:14 (But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.)
When we thirst after the right things, God, we will never thrist again, because we understand that the world can not give us what God can, and the world can not fill us like God. John 14:27 when God is talking about peace, He mentions "I do not give as the world gives"...Drink from this Fountain, and you will never thirst again. Thirsting for the things of this world that are temporary, will not fill us like the Fountain that is eternal

5:8 Yes God says in His word that no one can see God and live. But what this means is that the pure in heart are focused on one thing, and that is God. The promise is that those who are saved and faithful to their service to the Father, will one day see Him.
