Government warns pro-democracy activists to behave
The Thai authorities has warned pro-democracy activists to cease any exercise they see as a threat to the monarchy. Deputy PM Wissanu Krea-ngam issued the warning within the wake of a Constitutional Court ruling that found 3 activists responsible of plotting to overthrow the monarchy. Anon Nampa, Panupong “Mike” Jadnok, and Panusaya “Rung” Sithijirawattanakul all deny the accusations, insisting they have been merely calling for reform.
According to a Bangkok Post report, Wissanu says the three protesters can now not use the right to freedom of expression to justify their actions, because the courtroom has ruled that such actions can't be defended in this means.
Another Deputy PM, Prawit Wongsuwon, agrees, saying anti-government protesters are certain by the court’s ruling. The Bangkok Post reviews that when requested if the activists may face further charges ought to they continue to carry rallies, Prawit said the police would deal with the scenario.
