It is one of the tragedies of the world that lives can be cut short b illness and infections .Due to this, doctors are constantly striving for new ways to save lives .One of the most controversial is xenotransplantation which involves transplanting creature/animal organs to keep humans alive .Although this topic is seriously debated ,this discussion will consider advantages and disadvantages of this procedure .There were a total of 144,302 organ transplants performed worldwide in 2021 however that many people also disagree with the transplants . Some firmly believe in this approach even though some strongly disagree . According to statistics,1 in 3 people die in the UK waiting for transplants . So using pigs which have a shorter digestive system than humans is an ideal situation . Therefore, pigs are easy to breed (and have larger litters) so their organs are more available . Animals used in xenotransplantation have a shortened lifespan! Xenotransplantation is when tissue or organs are transported into another body such as a human .Zenotransplants must overcome issue of transplant rejection, cross species infections and ethics ,to be successfull in a human body. Could this be our answere to organ crisis?
