Notes - notes.io

In designing this final exam, I aimed to create a comprehensive assessment that aligns with the core themes and concepts explored throughout the course. The questions are crafted to evaluate students' understanding of fundamental information while also encouraging thoughtful reflections on the broader implications of the texts.

I deliberately chose to include close-ended questions in Part 1 to ensure a clear focus on essential facts and topics. This section is designed to evaluate the students' grasp of foundational knowledge in each book, emphasizing key themes, historical contexts, and ethical considerations.

For Part 2, the short-answer questions demand explanatory responses, allowing students to demonstrate a deeper understanding of key concepts and issues. These questions aim to assess the students' ability to articulate critical aspects of the course material concisely.

In Part 3, the short essay prompts are intentionally open-ended to provide students with the flexibility to explore diverse perspectives. By encouraging analysis and synthesis of evidence across multiple texts, I hope to elicit nuanced responses that showcase the students' ability to connect and apply knowledge gained throughout the course.

Reflecting on the design process, crafting this final exam has been a valuable opportunity to revisit the course's major themes. It enabled me to evaluate the interconnectedness of the texts, considering how each contributes to a broader understanding of health, medicine, and societal implications. The process highlighted the importance of assessing not only factual knowledge but also the students' capacity to think critically and engage with complex ideas.

In conclusion, this final exam is crafted to be a meaningful and comprehensive evaluation of the students' learning experiences in the course. The questions are designed to reflect the intellectual journey we undertook together, inviting students to showcase their understanding of key concepts, their ability to analyze diverse perspectives, and their reflections on the broader implications of healthcare and the history of medicine.
