DISCUSS HOW THE FOLLOWING CONTRIBUTE TO RADIOGRAPHIC NOISE: FILM GRAININESS, STRUCTURE MOTTLE & QUANTUM MOTTLE
-Structure mottle is a type of noise that manifests as a variation in image brightness or density. The structure mottle can be caused by various factors, including limitations in the X-ray equipment, fluctuations in X-ray exposure levels, and unevenness in the intensifying screens. Quantum mottle is caused by the random nature of X-ray interactions with the detector materials. This noise appears as a grainy texture in the X-ray image and can hinder the visibility of small and low-contrast structures.

WHY LATITUDE AND CONTRAST ARE SAID TO BE INVERSELY PROPORTIONAL.
-Both latitude and contrast are inversely proportional, with an increase in one resulting in a decrease in the other. Latitude in images refers to the brightness range, whereas contrast is the difference in brightness between different parts. The difference between dark and bright areas becomes smaller as latitude increases.
HOW DOES THE GEOMETRIC FACTORS (MAGNIFICATION,DISTORTION,FOCAL-SPOT BLUR)AFFECT IMAGE QUALITY?
-These geometric factors can have an impact on the ability to assess and interpret images accurately. Image quality is maintained for optimal diagnostic outcomes by minimizing magnification, distortion, and focal-spot blur through proper technique, equipment calibration, and regular maintenance.
HIGH-QUALITY RADIOGRAPH
-A high-quality radiograph is a detailed image acquired through radiography utilizing X-rays or electromagnetic radiation. It should have optimal resolution, contrast, and minimal distortions, precisely reflecting the anatomical features being investigated. This necessitates adequate patient placement, exposure settings, image processing, and radiographer/operator expertise.
