Assalamualaikum everyone. My name is Hanan and I will be explaining the medical and chemical causes of gender dysphoria.
Medical cause: Occasionally, the hormones that trigger the development of biological sex may not work properly on the brain, reproductive organs and genitals, causing differences between them. This may be caused by: additional hormones in the mother's system – possibly as a result of taking medication.

Chemical cause: Several EDCs have been implicated in the disturbance of gender identity development.

For instance, bisphenol A (BPA), commonly found in plastics and food packaging, has been shown to

interfere with hormone signalling and influence the expression of genes involved in sexual

differentiation.

A recent study investigated the volume of grey matter in individuals with GD and found that they had a smaller volume in the left posterior superior hemisphere of the cerebellum compared to male controls and a smaller volume of the right inferior orbitofrontal cortex compared to female controls.

The estimated prevalence of gender dysphoria among those assigned female sex at birth rose sharply at

the age of 11, peaked between the ages of 17 and 19 and then fell below that of those assigned male

sex at birth, by the age of 22.

In adolescents and adults, the disturbance is manifested by symptoms such as a stated desire to be the opposite gender, frequent dressing as the opposite gender, desire to live or be treated as the opposite gender, or the conviction that he or she has the typical feelings and reactions of the opposite gender.

This is a very serious issue just like Alzheimer's, Asthma, Cancer, cystic fibrosis, etc. So awareness regarding this topic is necessary, hence why we chose this topic.
