Solid & Hardwood Timber Flooring
Flooring is generally supplied in random length packs up to 4.8m in lengths. The minimum length for timber being fixed to joists is 900 mm, based on a 450 mm joist spacing. In some instances, if it is known that the floor will be laid over a structural sub-floor, then lengths shorter that 900 mm may be provided. Multiple layers of protective coating applied at the factory also allows engineered timber floors to be more wear-resistant than their pre-finished cheap timber floors siblings. If this is a concern, choose engineered timber floorboards with greater durability and scratch resistance e.g. As engineered timber flooring is coated in the factory, they also tend to be slightly more scratch-resistant and hard wearing than raw timber flooring that is hand-sealed on-site.
