Bellatrix Lestrange adalah penyihir berdarah murni, anak perempuan tertua dari Cygnus Black III dan Druella Black. Ia memulai edukasinya di Hogwarts pada 1962 dan terpilih masuk ke Slytherin.
Setelah lulus dari Hogwarts ia menjadi Pelahap Maut. Dia sangat fanatik dan setia pada Voldemort dan merupakan pengikut Voldemort yang paling berbahaya dan sadis.
Bellatrix memiliku andil besar dalam Perang Dunia Sihir I dan II sebagai pengikut Voldemort yang sangat setia, bahkan tidak takut mengungkapkan kesetiaan itu walau berada di tengah persidangan Ministry of Magic.
Kematian Bellatrix Lestrange terjadi pada Pertarungan Terakhir (1998). Kesalahannya adalah karena ia terlalu meremehkan Molly Weasley; Molly berhasil menyerang jantungnya dengan mantra terlarang yang tidak disebutkan.
Bellatrix dideskripsikan sebagai wanita tinggi dengan rambut panjang & tebal, bibir tipis,dan rahang keras. Dari sudut pandang Harry, Bellatrix—secara fisik—tidak jauh berbeda dengan Narcissa Malfoy.
Kejahatan yang berhubungan dengan penggunaan mantra terlarang :
● Menggunakan mantra Cruciatus pada Alice dan Frank Longbottom untuk mengorek informasi tentang keberadaan Voldemort.
● Membunuh Sirius Black dengan mantra Avada.
● Menggunakan mantra Crucio pada Hermione Granger pada pertempuran kecil di kediaman Malfoy.
