The first trailer for Air, Ben Affleck's new drama about Nike's attempt to signal basketball star Michael Jordan, debuted in the course of the Super Bowl. That was an early vote of confidence from Amazon Studios, which will launch the film in theaters April 5. But it is also a reminder that this is not really a sports movie. In fact, it is as far-off from a game of basketball as a movie can be whereas nonetheless having the phrase in its title.
The film tells the true story of Sonny Vaccaro (Matt Damon), who pushed for Nike to pursue basketball celebrity Michael Jordan in one of the most profitable advertising partnerships ever. The movie follows his tumultuous relationship with Jordan and how it set the stage for a series of iconic sneakers that were named after the star participant.
There is little actual footage of Jordan in action as much of the movie takes place in claustrophobic conference rooms, assembly halls and workplace cubicles. But the dialogue, penned by Aaron Sorkin (The Social Network, Moneyball) is sharp and witty. The fast-talking, genial banter and dry wit retains the story participating even as it lurches in the path of the inevitable will-he-won't-he ending.
Ultimately, what makes Air so compelling is that it treats the corporate world as a plausible, flamable place. The movie reveals how straightforward it can be to lose sight of the things that matter most in the identify of chasing profit and market share. And ซีรี่ย์จีนพากย์ไทย — which means that Nike is about to make another huge mistake — only reinforces that notion.
This is the third time that Affleck and Damon have teamed up to write a script (though ultimate credit goes to Alex Convery) but the first time that they've directed collectively. And it is a good thing they did, because the film benefits from their mixed charisma and energy. They're not afraid to let their characters swagger, brag and boast, but they're additionally good enough to point out how that is all part of the attraction.
Along with Damon and Affleck, the solid includes Jason Bateman as Rob Strasser, Marlon Wayans as George Raveling, Chris Messina as David Falk, Chris Tucker as Howard White, Matthew Maher as Peter Moore and Gustaf Skarsgard as Horst Dassler. The film is rated R for some violence, sexual references and pervasive swearing with a comically foul-mouthed performance from Messina because the unlikable but ultimately lovable Falk. The film opens in more than three,000 theaters nationwide on April 5, and might be obtainable to stream worldwide. It's a bro-y good time..
