Kucing caracal adalah kucing berukuran sedang yang tersebar di bagian asia dan afrika. Caracal sendiri memiliki nama sebutan lain yaitu lynx persia, lynx mesir, tetapi walaupun begitu caracal bukan sepenuhnya lynx. Caracal ini termasuk kedalam jenis kucing kecil, tetapi terberat dan tercepat dari semua jenis kucing. Caracal sendiri bertubuh ramping namun berotot . badan serta ototnya ini mendukungnya untuk hewan pelari cepat bahkan hampir seperti serval. Caracal memiliki kaki yang panjang serta ekor pendek dan juga telinga yang lebih panjang dan tegak. Berat tubuh carakal jantan sekitar 13-18 kg dan betina memiliki berat sekitar 11 kg. Caracal tersebar disekitar daratan afrika pakistan dan india. Habitat utamanya adalah stepa kering dan semi gurun. Harapan hidup caracal di alam bebas adalah 12 tahun dan 17 tahun di penakaran. Makanan caracal berupa daging-dagingan caracal sendiri termasuk hewan karnivora yang pandai berburu, biasanya hewan buruannya berupa hwwan yang lebih besar darinya. Cara mematikan buruannya salah satunya adalah dengan menggigit tengkuk hewan buruannya.
