Background story: Lahir di Daerim-dong, Seoul. Tinggal bersama kedua orang tua dan kaka perempuaannya. Setelah lulus universitas Yoona meneruskan bisnis cafe kakanya -KAMONG CAFE- Selain mengurus cafe kaka perempuannya, Yoona juga aktif membantu mengurus panti di dekat gereja. Yoona adalah tipikal orang yang kerja kerasa, kadang ia menomor duakan kepentingan utama (seperti makan dan mandi) saat sedang bekerja.
Merasa tidak puas dengan mengurus cafe, Yoona yang saat itu melihat berita perekturan manager untuk salah satu group dari agency ternama ikut mendaftarkan diri. Setelab memikirkan matang matang keinginannya, ja berpamitan kepada orang tua dan kakanya untuk pergi ke Gangnam. Dengan harapan penuh dapat bekerja diagency ternama, WM Entertainment.
