Volvo owners appreciate the convenience of their key fob's remote that comes with features. They can lock and unlock their car as well as start the motor and even locate it via an app for smartphones.

First, put the fob onto an uncluttered work surface with the logo side facing upwards. Find the button that will let it go. Place a coin between the cover of the fob and the fob, and gently pull it up.

If your vehicle is equipped with a dealer-installed Engine Remote Start accessory, you can also use the key fob to activate this feature. The car will then cool or heat to the temperature it was set at when parked. It will continue to run for a maximum of 15 minutes.

Use a fingernail to remove the cover on the back of the key fob. A button should be placed beneath the cover on an angle, close to the edge of the body. Slide it to the right. The cover will be released and slide off, revealing the manual blade! If you are still unable to locate the button, look around the newly revealed manual key access area to see if there is a hidden slot or lever.

Close the Windows

One of the features that is hidden that is not visible on Volvo key fobs is that you can close all windows at once with them. This is useful when you're trying to squeeze into parking spaces that are tight or simply need fresh air while driving.


Press and hold the unlock button on your Volvo remote control for four seconds. This will lower the windows and the sunroof, if you have one. When you're done with your vehicle, you can shut all the windows by pressing the lock key again for four seconds.

You can also activate the panic alarm inside your car with the key fob. It will sound an alarm that is loud and attention-grabbing that could frighten away thieves and allow you to return home safe after a long night out. This feature is handy should you reside in a hazardous area, or want to protect your family while away from home.

Opening the Tailgate

Volvo's key fob is packed with useful features. These are perfect for when you're busy with shopping or helping your kids to pack their sports gear after practice.

For instance, if have the available Hands-Free Power Liftgate with logo projection and programmable height (if equipped) You can open it using the key fob. Just press the button to open it, and use the same button to close it when you're done.

Use the key fob to ensure you are ready to start the vehicle. (Don't be worried if your battery goes out or if your car won't start since it also has an electronic key slot). This is just one of the many tricks that can be useful for your new Volvo.

Switching off the Alarm

Modern key fobs offer an array of benefits over a standard mechanical car key. They aren't always working perfectly and batteries can be dead. You can program your key fob at home in case you are in a rush or don't have time to visit the store.

Set out your keys along with batteries and any other keys on a clean surface. Place the key fob with the Volvo logo facing up, then locate a small black button on the bottom left of the fob. Slide volvo v50 key fob and to the right. The cover will begin to loosen and fall off and reveal the mechanical key blade beneath it.

You can open all doors as well as the reargate by pressing the unlock button on the key fob two times. By pressing the lock button for two minutes, you are able to close the windows and the sunroof when they're fitted. Reconnect the battery, and the alarm will stop.
