Notes - notes.io

addressable has the LED light on the head.
conventional has the LED light on the base.

4 parts of wire
1. Guage/AWG- size of the wire
2. conductor- how many wires inside jacket
3. type- solid/stranded/shielded/unshielded
4. characteristics- riser/FPL (fire power limited) FPLR (fire power limited riser)

example

(18/2 solid)18= size of wire 2= number of wires in jacket solid= type of wire being used

shielded protects against EMI- used for when wanting to transfer data.
shielded also has a drain wire.
low voltage=power limited
FPL= used in a horizontal direction
FPLR= used in vertical direction
plenum= used in an air space
running wires in series there is a single path of current.
running wires in parallel means there's multiple paths of current.
led on a pull device is an addressable device.
no LED means conventional
strobe lights on the same floor have to linked with each other so they go off at the same time.

ladder safety!
3 points of contact at all times!!
when ascending or descending you must be facing the ladder
keep arms elbows knees & feet inside the hand/side rails.
avoid tipping the ladder.
never climb a ladder on a hill/slope or uneven ground
when climbing a roof make sure ladder is three rungs above the roof.
4:1 rule- for every 4 feet we go up move the base of the ladder back a foot of the buildings wall (extension ladders)

parts of ladder what to inspect.

cleats/feet -dirty/dusty - broken - rusted - rubber wears thin.
side rails - dents- cracks- rust (labels & stickers)- capacity
rungs (steps) - wet/slippery -loose- bent- rusted- cracks.
locks - dents- cracks- functional
top cap - cracks-dents-rust-NEVER stand or sit on it.
rope - torn-worn- frail- stringy- knotted up.

conventional pt1 ohms law v/I=R
you will only hear the word.
"ZONE" v= voltage I= current R= resistance
in conventional system how much current is flowing through the circuit V ---> VOLTAGE
voltage of a battery 12v/24v in a circuit CURRENT --> I R ---> RESISTANCE
how much resistance is in a circuit.
(V =I x R) (I=V / R) (R= V / I)
circuit - the current in a circuit
conventional pt2
you can have multiple zones on one floor.
you cannot have multiple floors on a zone.
you can have multiple types of devices on one zone.

def-
ZONE- is a protected area with a protected device.
