You can replace the Volvo key fob batteries by following a few easy steps. First, locate a clear working surface to complete the process. Then, lay out all the tools you'll need. Then, locate the battery hatch, and then open it with the flathead, a coin, or another similar tool. Then, carefully remove the battery by lifting the side closest to the hook for the key-ring. Wear rubber gloves to protect the clips and electronic contact surfaces.

After the battery is removed, place the new battery into its socket. Make sure that the positive end of the battery is facing upwards and that all clips are seated. Slide the cover toward the key-ring portion until it becomes loose and it falls off. Then, you can remove the cover to reveal the mechanical key blade inside. It can be used to unlock your car from the driver's door when you've lost or damaged the key fob.


How to Start Your Vehicle

Replace the battery and snap to the fob.

Note: Certain older Volvo models use another type of battery that is called the CR2025. CR2025 batteries have the thickness of 7/10ths a millimeter less than a CR2032 which means you'll need to be extra cautious when replacing your battery.
