Find the battery hatch, and ensure it is set to "open." Use a flathead screwdriver, coin or other similar tool to turn the hatch open. Next, carefully pry the battery out of its socket by lifting it on the side closest to the key-ring loop. Be sure to use rubber gloves to protect the clips or electronic contact surfaces.

Insert the new battery into the socket after the older one was removed. Make sure the positive side of the battery is facing upwards, and the clips are all seated. Slide the cover down toward the key-ring portion until it is loose and it falls off. Then, you can remove the cover and reveal the key blade that is hidden within.
