GRANDMA:

CARMELA: Ugh! Ano!?

(They walk through to the basement)
Grandma sits in an armchair, holding an old, ornate frame. Carmela's curious and slightly confused about the picture on the frame.
CARMELA:(leaning forward) lola? (Scared) It looks just like me!
GRANDMA:(chuckling)
Ah, my dear apo, this frame holds a story that intertwines our past and present. Let me unravel it for you.
GRANDMA begins to trace her finger along the intricate carvings on the frame.
GRANDMA(continuing) This frame belonged to our ancestors, , naipasa sa paglipas ng mga taon. May hawak itong larawan ng iyong lola sa tuhod, si Carmelita, na nabuhay noong 1800s.
CARMELA:(baffled) But... Lola, the girl in the frame looks exactly like me. Same face, same hair, same body. Paano? Ang imposible naman yan.
LOLA: (smiling)Iyan ang kaakit-akit na bahagi, apo. Si Carmelita ay sinasabing nagtataglay ng walang hanggang kagandahan na umaalingawngaw sa mga henerasyon. Marami sa amin sa aming pamilya ang nagmana ng kanyang mga katangian, tulad mo.
CARMELA:(still puzzled) But... how can that be? Are we the same person?
LOLA: (patting Carmelas's hand) "No, my dear. We are not the same person, ngunit nagdadala kami ng isang piraso ng kanya sa loob namin. Ito ang magic ng genetics, na nag-uugnay sa iyo sa isang mahabang linya ng malalakas at magagandang babae na nauna sa iyo."
