Herodotus is recognized as the "Father of History." He is known as well as someone who enjoys traveling, and while sailing, he prepared a list of the magnificent man-made items he spotted so that others would know which areas to visit. He created it as a handbook for persons who like traveling, and the sites that he wrote about are now known as the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World.

The originally purpose of the cruise ship was for mails but the in the year 1850's and 1890's they began focusing more on the passengers. The first true leisure cruise was made in the year 1800 where the P&O cruises sailed passengers on small liner to the Mediterranean for a purpose of pure leisure and later on P&O expanded their services. 1890's the term posh was coined which is the acronym for port out, starboard home. In the 1980 the first cruise of Cunard has sailed. Cunard focus on the speed while the Star line they priority the comfort of the passengers and one of their known cruises is the Titanic which is known as one of the biggest and expensive cruises. In world war 1 cruise was ceased but in world war 2 cruise returned. The modern cruise that we know started in 1960's and the biggest cruise was launched in late 2010. Today cruising is still known as one of the no-hassle leisure and it is also known as one of the expensive way to travel.
