At school during P.E you're always made aware to participate in warm up stretches and most with the instances when put it into practice you think "why bother" and "is this actually doing something?" However if you went directly from static movement into looking to do a pursuit your body knows about it and would not feel fully prepared, it's also possible to feel the damage later when sat watching TV!

Schools scratch the surface of the items you can push yourself to do but they make you take part in a wide variety of sports from running around the track, tennis and badminton to enjoy dancing and aerobics. Although school P.E can be difficult, if being athletic is just not your thing, playing hockey within the freezing cold temperatures in January after coming back from your Christmas break just isn't my thought of fun either!
