The infection rate of H.pylori was 53.0%, and 90.1% of strains were type I strains. The H.pylori infection rate was higher among farmers (OR=1.34, 95% CI 1.19-1.50) and individuals who had a junior high school or higher education level (OR=1.10, 95% CI 1.06-1.15), and was lower in older individuals (OR=0.86, 95% CI 0.83-0.90), individuals with high income (OR=0.93, 95% CI 0.90-0.95), individuals with a habit of eating quickly (OR=0.93, 95% CI 0.87-0.99) and individuals who consumed more fruit and vegetables (OR=0.90, 95% CI 0.85-0.95). Individuals with history of cholecystitis/cholecystolithiasis, hypertension and asthma were negatively correlated with H.pylori infection (P<0.05).

Understanding the intra-urban spatial dynamics of Aedes aegypti and dengue transmission is important to effectively guide vector control. Ovitraps are a sensitive, cost-effective vector surveillance tool, yet few longitudinal studies have evaluated ovitrap indices and dengue occurrence. We aimed to assess the spatial patterns of dengue incidence and Ae.aegypti ovitrap positivity index (OPI) over time and to examine the spatial relationship between these two variables.

This study used 12years (2007-2018) of dengue case records and biweekly Ae.aegypti ovitrap data in Belo Horizonte, Brazil. We aggregated data by year and health centre catchment area (n=152) and used both univariate and bivariate global Moran's I statistic and LISA to evaluate spatial clustering.

Annual dengue incidence ranged from 18 to 6262/100000 residents and displayed spatial autocorrelation in 10/12years, with shifting areas of high incidence. We monitored a large-scale implementation of the Simple Amplification-Based Assay semi-quantitative viral load test for HIV-1 version I (SAMBA I Viral Load=SAMBA I VL) within Médecins Sans Frontières' HIV programmes in Malawi and Uganda, to assess its performance and operational feasibility.

Descriptive analysis of routine programme data between August 2013 and December 2016. The dataset included samples collected for VL monitoring and tested using SAMBA I VL in five HIV clinics in Malawi (four peripheral health centres and one district hospital), and one HIV clinic in a regional referral hospital in Uganda. The total score of the questionnaire (P less then .01*) by gender and averages scores of women were higher in all mentioned sub-dimensions and total scores. In our study, there was no correlation between nomophobia and cigarette addiction because of the low number of smokers participating in our survey. This ecosystem process is being jeopardized by changes in N inputs that have resulted from a tripling of atmospheric N deposition in the last century. Soil fungi are impacted by atmospheric N deposition due to higher N availability, as soils are acidified, or as micronutrients become increasingly limiting. Fungal communities that persist with chronic N deposition may be enriched with traits that enable them to tolerate environmental stress, which may trade-off with traits enabling organic matter decomposition. We hypothesized that fungal communities would respond to N deposition by shifting community composition and functional gene abundances toward those that tolerate stress but are weak decomposers. We sampled soils at seven eastern US hardwood forests where ambient N deposition varied from 3.2 to 12.6 kg N ha-1 year-1 , five of which also have experimental plots where atmospheric N deposition was simulated through fertil.
To quantify the burden of HIV, syphilis and schistosome infection and associated risk factors among adults living in seven fishing communities of Lake Victoria in northwest Tanzania.

Cross-sectional study conducted between 2015 and 2016 in the selected communities. In each community, we randomly selected a sample of adults from the general population and from three putative risk groups including the following (i) fishermen, (ii) fish processors and traders, and (iii) women working in the recreational facilities. Participants were interviewed to obtain information about potential risk factors, and venous blood was collected for detection of HIV, syphilis and schistosome infections. We used logistic regression models to quantify the associations between potential risk factors and HIV, and also between schistosome infection and HIV.
