for OS (hazard ratio [HR]=1.301, 95% CI 1.048-1.616, P=0.017) and was not an independent predictor for PFS (HR=0.986, 95% CI 0.831-1.170, P=0.874). IPTW-adjusted Cox proportional hazards regression analysis, including postoperative complications, operation time, intraoperative blood loss and postoperative chemotherapy, produced consistent results.

Although violating the "sterility principle", patients who underwent colorectal resection first did not have an increased postoperative infection rate and had some better short-term outcomes and comparable PFS than those who underwent liver resection first.

The aim of this retrospective clinical study was to evaluate the survival and the occurrence of technical and biological complications in bi-layered zirconia-based (Zi) single crown and 3-unit fixed dental prostheses (FDPs). Also, the study aimed to analyze the effects of tooth vitality (vital versus non-vital), abutment location (anterior versus posterior), and luting cement (self-adhesive resin versus resin-reinforced glass ionomer) on clinical outcomes.

A total of 147 prostheses (in 94 patients) placed by undergraduate dental students in a university dental center during the period 2015-2021 were examined clinically using modified United States Public Health Service (USPHS) and California Dental Association (CDA) criteria. The mean duration of follow-up was 37 months (range, 6 - 63 months) for the single crowns (n=77) and 25 months (range, 6 - 68 months) for the 3-unit FDPs (n=70). Data were descriptively analyzed to determine the types and rates of complications based on USPHS and CDA criteria. The Kat canal treated teeth seem to be at higher risk for failure of Zi prostheses compared with vital teeth.
the aim of this ex vivo report was to evaluate, on a microscopical analysis, the presence of microbrush remnants on in the adhesive surface in extracted teeth.

Twenty extracted teeth were divided into four groups. Half of the teeth were prepared as Class I cavities, whereas the other half as Class II cavities, according to Black classification. The teeth were conditioned with primer and bonding, both applied with microbrushes. Each of these groups was divided into halves, and the two sub-groups received a polymerization process or not, respectively. The teeth were then analyzed by scanning electron microscopy working in environmental mode.

All of the analyzed surfaces (100%) showed the presence of residual bristles on the adhesion surface.

Microscopical analysis showed the presence of residual bristles in the 100% of the surfaces treated with Black Classes I and II cavities. Further studies are necessary to evaluate the influence of this factor on the adhesion strength and capacity.

Clinician should be aware of the realistic possibility of the presence of bristles belonging to disposable applicators in the adhesive interface of Black's class I and II cavities. The impact of these remnants has still to be ascertained.

This study aimed to investigate the readmission pattern and risk factors for patients who experienced a hyperglycemic crisis.

Patients admitted to MacKay Memorial Hospital for diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA) or hyperglycemic hyperosmolar state (HHS) between January 2016 and April 2019 were studied. The timing of the first readmission for hyperglycemia and other causes was recorded. Kaplan-Meier analysis was used to compare patients with hyperglycemia and all-cause readmissions. Cox regression was used to identify independent predictors for hyperglycemia and all-cause readmission post-discharge.

The study cohort included 410 patients, and 15.3% and 46.3% of them had hyperglycemia and all-cause readmissions, respectively. The DKA and HHS group showed a similar incidence for hyperglycemia, with the latter group showing a higher incidence of all-cause readmissions. The significant predictors of hyperglycemia readmissions included young age, smoking, hypoglycemia, higher effective osmolality, and hyperthyroidism in the DKA group and higher glycated hemoglobin level in the HHS group.

Patients who experienced DKA and HHS had similar hyperglycemia readmission rates; however, predictors in the DKA group were not applicable to the HHS group. Designing different strategies for different types of hyperglycemic crisis is necessary for preventing readmission.

Zerumbone (ZER) is a humulane sesquiterpenoid isolated from Syringa pinnatifolia Hemsl. (SP), its content accounts for 64.7% of volatile oil and 0.86% of total ethanol extract (TEE), representing one of characteristic ingredient of SP. As a representative Mongolian medicine with anti-"Khii", anti-asthma, and clearing-heat effects, SP has been used for the treatment of cardiovascular diseases, upset, insomnia, and other symptoms.

Previous results showed that TEE has sedative effect, but the pharmacological substances and its sedative mechanism remains unclear. This study aims to determine whether ZER, as one of major and characteristic sesquiterpenoids of SP, contributes to the sedative effect of SP and its underlying mechanism.

Locomotor activity and threshold dose of pentobarbital sodium sleep experiments were used to evaluate the sedative effects in mice. ELISA assay was used to examine the level of GABA/Glu ratio in rats hippocampus, cortex and hypothalamus tissue. The binding ability of ZER with gluanti-"Khii" in clinic of Syringa pinnatifolia.

Radix Paeoniae Alba (RPA), a traditional Chinese medicine, has been used frequently in the treatment of asthma. Previous studies demonstrated the dichloromethane fraction of Stir-Frying RPA (FDCM) enhanced the effect of anti-allergic asthma compared with the dichloromethane fraction of RPA (DCM).

The significant increasing of Paeoniflorin (PF), ethyl gallate (EG), 1,2,3,4,6-pentagalloylglucose (PGG) had been observed in FDCM. This study aimed to investigate the effects and mechanisms of these compounds from FDCM in ovalbumin (OVA)-induced allergic asthma mouse model.

The significant difference contents compounds fraction (FB-40) and other fractions in FDCM were enriched by Medium Pressure Liquid Chromatography (MPLC). The pharmacodynamics was verified among all fractions in OVA-induced allergic asthma mice. Moreover, the drug dose dependence of FB-40 (0.42mg/kg, 0.21mg/kg, and 0.07mg/kg), which were the most active fraction from FDCM for anti-allergic asthma, was explored. The expression of IL-6, p-STATThe research proved that FB-40 was an active fraction in FDCM, which regulates IL-6/STAT3 Signaling Pathway to ameliorate allergic asthma. Gallic acids including TGG and PGG, and EG also play a role in the treatment of allergic asthma in FB-40.
